we were a test office and because some regular posties already did this and those that didn't carried on not doing it there was no difference in delivery span, i personally do it but only on my delivery where i know everyone my delivery is 10 miles from the office and most of the residents like this i wouldn't do it on some of the lapsed duties we have to do

So the guys who had the time to do it within their hours did it and the guys who didnt have the time within their hours didnt do it. That both groups finished on time isn't a surprise.

If I'm on an easy walk i will knock on neighbours, if its busy i won't and the result is the delivery span is pretty much the same.

In the courier article it said trials had shown delivering to neighbours doesn't add any time to a walk. :nana

Even our manager laughed at that during a WTL session and told us not to go out of our way to try neighbours. I don't leave anything with anyone unless the person from the house next door comes out and offers to take it, and only then if they don't look like scrubbers.

Just like the Courier companies, they think there is always someone at home...

P739 is definitely quicker as you write the card and move on instead of try a couple of doors and then go back and leave a card for either non-delivery or delivery at a neighbour. Some folks ask you to go and leave a card - and I understand that; they want the neighbour to come and collect instead of going to the neighbour...

It all depends on how well the postie knows the walk and what sort of residential area it is.

Was out for 5 1/2 hours walking in 31C today .. knock on neighbour's doors ? .. you must be joking .. if they're outside or come out and ask if they can take it then fair enough but there is no way I'm knocking on anyone's door other than the person it's addressed to .. utter madness !!!

Couldn't agree more!.. I am sick of wasting time knocking on neighbours doors and not getting an answer!
As quoted above if a neighbour comes out and offers to take it fine.. but that's as far as I go now. Our CDV duty is too big to be wasting time like that.

I left a docket at one of our LM's house today. Waiting for him to moan at me for not leaving at a neighbours :cuppa
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
