Funny as f**k that shower, Seems like every Wednesday and Thursday we get sh*t loads of their post that they've been unable to deliver pushed through the system with a delivered by Royal Mail sticker stuck over the TNT postmark.

It's physical yes, but do roofers, builders, warehouse workers, landscapers etc not get physical injuries from long term work? Of course they do, it's the same with most jobs.

I'm quite sure that if you find a forum for roofers, builders, etc you'll find the same moans about incompetent managers, poor industrial relations, pay and conditions, the same stuff we moan about. I'm also sure it's the same for every type of job unless you're in management or banking.

The job varies from office to office and depends on where you are on this modernisation rollercoaster,you've only been here 7 months which isn't much at all so I would give it a while before you make any real judgements as to whether the moaning is justified or not.

Yea that's fair enough, I've worked for the company for 11 months now and easily the best and easiest job I've had.

It's a great job with pretty good terms and conditions - AT THE MOMENT! If we get sold off, give it a couple of years and then wait for the real moaning to start.

That's my point. There are serial moaners that are on more than me and many others.

Its not really about the money, well not for me.

Its about reducing yourself to a worn out wreck by Saturday afternoon and coming home too tired to play with your children or find the energy to enjoy family life.

Your wife, girlfriend or partner telling you that your always tired when you close your eyes and promptly fall off to sleep.

The job is still good in my eyes but make no illusions its physically exhausting completing 4.5 to 5 hr walking deliveries.

That’s why people moan because they are tired because they ache and get treated like shite from managers when they say they are not going to work over.

I could go on and on but what’s the point. You either understand these things or you have not gained enough experience to appreciate them.

Some people in this country are pretty negative and like a whinge. Those in RM are no different, and to be fair the job for some used to be a lot easier until things changed.

While it seems perfectly reasonable to be paid for the hours you actually work, if that is a new concept after years of job and knock you would feel aggrieved with those changes. In addition to that some people just don't like change and can't appreciate that the way RM used to function was not sustainable going forward.

They need to change their mindset and now the job is more in line with a proper job, treat it like that in the way they perform their duty ( coming in at right time, don't fly around like a loony, take breaks, finish at correct time etc). Its a pretty good job, and for unskilled labour to be paid £10 an hour for actually working the hours you work is still pretty good and those that say different are out of touch with the real world.

I think that tells you something from the outside world.

It seems that the majority of posts on here is of people moaning about the company.

I get that for the guys and girls that have been here for many years and have seen it change from the 'good old days' to the 'modernisation', the job isn't as good as it used to be, but is it really that bad?

This is my 4th job on my cv to date and its by far the best, Its very stress free and pays better then any of the others I've had, the hours are great, we get evenings and at least one weekend day free.


I've had jobs where I'm working 4 weekdays to 10 pm and the same on both Saturday and Sunday for minimum wage.

Yes it's not perfect and the majority of management are ####s, yes it's changing but as are more jobs these days.

Take a can of man up and lighten up, you don't realize how good you have it compared to some people.

You've answered your own question - the job isn't as good as it used to be, and given another twelve months allied to privatisation, it'll be minimum wage serfdom like the previous three crap jobs you've had, so maybe you should keep your can of 'man up' in storage for then.

If they working for an agency they won't be entitled to the same terms and conditions as us.
A you seriously telling me that Manpower offer £9.50 an hour to work for the Royal Mail, and I would imagine £6.19 to work in an abattoir and find it more difficult to fill the former rather than the latter?

abattoir work is more reliable.

I thought Angard supplied operational staff, don't Manpower supply line managers?
