They will bring in cover to complete the walk or, if the situation requires, they will go out on the walk and complete it themselves.
Job description is not the reality on the front line I am afraid.

You probably won't believe it, but one of ours actually ticks most of those boxes. When he's off the office goes to sh*t, the others haven't got a clue what they're doing.

He was a postie for a long time though, not one of those nonces straight out of Uni who spend most of their time sat in the office playing games on the PC hoping it will all go away.

Royal Mail pays Line Managers to mostly stare at people whilst they work. As we do the same thing every day their just seeing what they saw yesterday.

Brilliant description.

So i appear to have been very fortunate in never having come across them, long may it continue. My comiserations to those that do have to deal with them.
We do have one in our office who would probably make an ideal line manager. His arse licking is staggering to behold.Coming in early during the winter to switch the heater on in the DOMs office so it is nice and warm for him.Rushing to get back before anyone else so he can stand on the dock to check up on other peoples return times and then making a detailed verbal report to the boss the following day.Its not uncommon for him to still be hanging around the office for up to 3 hours after his finish time spying on the collection monkeys. All unpaid of course.
