lol to be fair I still think its a good job as long as you do it properly. I dont work my bollocks off like some but I do work to my finishing time most days, thats not because I have an easy duty its because I refuse to rush around. Ill bring back work and get overtime to finish or go home and someone else will finish it. People do rush around trying to finish early and I think as a new recruit the temptation is there to follow suit. Its like anything, you need to have been in the job awhile to see how the job is done and compare it to how its supposed to be done then make a decision for yourself.

40 min break for 6 hours? that seems alot?

I think its 30 mins break

you are right mate 5-7hr attendance= 30mins
7hr-8hr 59m=40mins
9hr-10hr59m=50mins

also there is a grace break entitlement--taken from the way forward agreement
when work permits a grace break of 10 mins, over and above the standard entitlements should be allowed on all indoor and outdoor jobs. in no circumstances should this be scheduled. when it is not possible to provide a grace break before going out on first delivery the employee should be given the chance to have a cup of tea before leaving the office.
so basically either way quiet or busy day you can stop for a cup of tea to increase your break time.

IF YOU ARRIVE ON YOUR TIME, DO THE JOB PROPERLY, NO SHORTS CUTS, NO CARS, USE BIKE OR GO ON A VAN YOU WILL FIND THAT (IF YOU WANT TO) THE ROUNDS ARE SO LENGTHY AND HARD THAT YOU WILL BE DOING LOADS OF OVERTIME TO JUST COMPLETE YOUR ROUND.

FOR INSTANCE 0600-1230, ROUND COMPLETED BY 1400, BACK AT OFFICE 1415, POUCHED OFF BY 1430. IF YOU HADN'T TAKEN MEAL RELIEF BEFORE YOU LEFT THE OFFICE YOU COULD NOW CLAIM, WAIT FOR IT - 2.5 HOURS OVERTIME (PROTRACTED DELIVERY or P/D on overtime sheet).

WHY 2.5 HOURS? WELL TIS THE 2 HOURS YOU WERE A WORKIN' PLUS THE 30 MINS FOR YOUR MEAL RELIEF.

JUST READ THRU THE ABOVE - BET YOUR MORE CONFUSED THAN EVER!

DON'T FORGET - IT CAN BE A GOOD LIFE IN ROYAL MAIL, BUT WE ALL MIGHT HAVE TO AWAIT THE PASSING OF LIEGHTON AND CROWSARSE.

BEST O' LUCK PAL.

:Very Happy
