Guys I am not a regular poster, but i feel so strong about this that I must say something, the BT2010 agreement states that we can have 1 in 4 saturdays, don't get diswayed from this.
Give our/your people 1in 4 whether they like it or not, eventually they will be gratefull, if it causes RM a problem then tough luck, they agreed to it.

It says "majority" and that is too loose a term.

Re: 1 IN 4 SATURDAYS OFF
Whilst the precise number of Saturdays off and the aspirations of employees will vary from unit to unit, both parties believe we can deliver cost effective and reliable options that will maximise the number of Saturdays off for those who wish them. Royal Mail and CWU commit to achieving at least 1 in 4 Saturdays off for the majority of employees (including reserves) during the roll out of the operational transformation programme.

Re: 1 IN 4 SATURDAYS OFF
Erm...thought the Floaters/Relief/Part Timers also have the same "Employment Rights" as Full Timers, SO should ALSO get the 1 in 4 offer etc.
Been on Strike x 2 for all of this...shouldn't be any discrimination or difference in this aspect, as far as I am aware....and have been told so by local and regional reps, and have seen the info as part of the Agreement/Transformation in writing too.
Think the Us and Them attitude ain't gonna help at all.
But, once the Privatisation goes ahead, we'll have LOTS of weekends off, out of the 365.25 days that we'll be Signing On.

Re: 1 IN 4 SATURDAYS OFF
We have half and half 1 in 6 and 2 in 6. Remember the whole exercise is for RM to save hours, so your optimum performance will no doubt identify a number of duty's that would have to be be reduced to a 25 hr contract, either straight away or over a period of time, so they save hours. However to achieve the aspirations of the staff, which according to BT2010 should be on par with the needs of the business,( who want more Saturdays off) then hours could be put back in in the form of Saturday only duties. But with most things around BT2010 what is written on paper rarely flows on in reality. They will want their cake in the form of hours out the office and eat it as well.

No real progress on 1 in 4 for all staff.
