They didn't mention anything about paying me overtime, and to be honest I was a bit shy, and didn't say anything. However, I got paid for it and the managers started coming around regularly to make sure I was doing OK, reminding me to claim overtime if i had to etc. From what I've been reading on the forums here, I've been thinking that alls not as bad as it seems.... maybe like with shops... people only write when theres something to complain about.. the good guys rarely get a mention.
you might be one of the lucky offices who have a good honest manager

dawatticus: i've worked for RM for over 20 years and in that time i have worked for some great managers well at least 5 and i've worked in more offices than i care to remember sadly they were all old school called a spade a spade and were firm but fare. it seems that present day managers are not worthy of wipeing the s**t from my shoe.

Heh, quite sure. I was really surprised, after reading about the problems a lot of people have been having... i had started to regret signing up :p Fortunately for me it's all worked out OK.

( Theres obviously still a huge number of idiots out there though :p )

id just like to agree with many posts here mate go speak to your unit rep he/she will advise you on your rights, certainly never work before your contract hours unless you are (1) willing to and (2) getting paid overtime for this and make sure you are claiming for ur meal relief, for a time span 5-7hrs its a 30 mins break, 7-9 hrs 40 mins break ask your rep for info on other spans if through time you wish to do overtime well above your conditioned hours. you may well be intitled to a pouching off allowance too. as said before join union and your rep will probably be more than willing to assist you.
