I was under the impression, might be wrong though that ALL pouch boxes were defunked once a revision is in.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

say we have 2 walks. A & B
I take A1 and he takes A2.... meet up.
i take B1 and he takes B2....
i take A3, he takes A4....
he takes B3, i take B4....
BREAK
he takes B5, i take A5... FINISH...
We move the van as we go taking turns for who gets there first, and whoever drives past a house that has packets, delivers them. We deliver equal. And alternate what we do daily. So we both work the opposites... so every day is different.
Communication and patience is the key...
no-body told us how to do it... that what we learnt to do ourselves... loading the van properly also saves time. And remaining organized stops mistakes.
How would that work if your partner didn't drive and also each time do you and your regular partner sign the logbook on changeover?

nope... should we...? one person- starter drive does vehicle check and we sign log book both names... its can be worked so there is one driver... but a bit more awkward... buts its possible... but then.. you would need the boxes.

still prefer on my own, but quicker... could take the van out before going on walk... and deliver packets, return to office and go out on walk... would save alot of time.

Do you also come in early before your time?
Do you not bother with you breaks?
Do you throw all your d2d's in on a Monday or even come in on Saturday on your holiday to throw them in for the Monday?
whoooah wait a minute there
west of scotland use p&l with pouch boxes was brought in with revision
one man gets van other (me ) gets lwt
van man gets large and i mean LARGE packets i still have to carry everything shoe box size (no weight limits) in lwt
the van man is supposed to support walking man as he has larger walk doesn,t happen btw
this was endorsed by cwu at local ,area, regional and national level despite my constant arguments.
dont blame guy using boxes when CWU endorsed and forced it on us
west of scotland union shame on you

Dom's have a habit of turning a blind eye because it gets the job done quicker but as soon as the s**t hits the fan they deny all knowledge and leave you to take the blame

Damn! I have to work with people like the poster above- and I hate it. The time saved does not appeal to me - aslong as we dont really go over the contracted time...

As a reserve, I have to work with different people and on different walks - some I don't even know until i walk into the office... its been easier to cope with the disruption when the job is done as it is planned - where the loops are well designed and identified on the frame - anyone (even from another office) can simply throw out and bag up. When over-complicate things.

I worked with a bloke this week who doesn't like the loops - irrational dislike bcos the walk is not straightforward and he had been a floater on the round. 2 loops were merged into one and 3 into 2 and other things. Confusing and it took him a while to bag up - I was done and ready with my walk 20 minutes before him...

But when the P&L started, I was the one that had to work with a new member of staff and was responsible for resolving the issues and coming up with best way of working even with one or two dodgy loops. It worked for about 3 months until I was taken off... Then the walks are now done separately with one using a car and other RM van. But when the floaters are on they use this weird ways of doing it - with one of them taking a huge bag on his shoulder whereas some sections could have been shared :arrrghhh

The biggest problem i have with you doing it this way is that the planners/managers etc will think the walks are achievable. They will be high fiving each other due to the savings they have made, going out on a friday night to spend some of their bonuses for getting the savings and moving onto the next revision thinking they are the best planners since sliced bread where in reality they have left an office open to another set of savings in a years time when really it may need some hours putting back in or JOBS.

We started P&L last June. Stuck to the rules - only one person driving, shorter loop does parcels etc. Job didn't work so got it tested and lost a loop and all our IPS. Job works now and doesn't run over. Having said that, me and my partner had to really tweak the planner's loops so they actually worked and, more importantly, made sense. Granted we shouldn't have been doing the planners' job for them but if we'd stuck to what their precious computer squirted out we'd never have been back in time for our docket!

I just do it as it says on the tin. They planned it get paid for planning it. Its not up to us to sort out. If it does not work the only thing I think about is do I want to go over or not. To hell with messing about with loops ect.
