im all for the strikes but surely we are striking because royal mail are trying to take the piss,,

as far as im concerned these later starts were part of the reason i was striking...and it comes in anyway...regardless of strikes or not..

what do you mean without a fight, what do you think the upcoming strikes are for ?

As I already mentioned Royal Mail can bring in changes and the union can do NOTHING about it directly. BUT the union can get us to go out on strike and show Royal Mail that we are fighting these changes. The strikes are the weapon the union has to hurt the Royal Mail in the pocket which should make them listen to what the union has to say and not go about things the way they are.
It shows how much the Royal Mail think of its workers that theyre bringing in these changes in the face of knowing that the workforce is strongly against them. Lets continue to hurt them and maintaining our strikes. As soon as we as a union back down then what Royal Mail have brought in will be here to stay.
i totally agree with you,and i know we have to strike as i have said im all for them, but these late starts are now in regardless of us striking or not,and that ithought was one of the things we didnt want,,and regardless of the strikes its now been brought in....

im striking because i dont want to be taking for a mug,but if royal mail has forced this in and our union has basically said that we have to work late, then surely whats to stop royal mail from bringing in the next thing to stitch us up with..

even if we are on strike..it seems to have gone in thier favour as far as the late starts are concerned...as i have said i know we have to strike there is no other way about it,but its a bit worrying when r.m bring these conditions and new times and it seems to have been accepted.

it hasnt been accepted
we will find out next wednesday, but our rep had an official letter from the union today saying that we will have to work the new start times...i hope youre right but it looks like later starts will be in....hopfully they wont especially after 4 days worth of strikes but we will see.

again, the royal mail can bring in any changes they want - which they are doing, the unions only action is to continue to strike. So you may well see things implemented like this in the short term.

so what happens on wednesday after the strikes,do we come in at the new time and shoot ourselves in the foor by cementing these new start times or do we come in at the old times....

yes you have to work as the job is set out, its not shooting yourself in the foot, the union is still fighting all of these changes. The other alternative is a full out strike and not to return to work until theres an agreement between RM and the CWU and i dont think thats good for either party.

There is talk apparently of having 1hr strikes at the end of the shifts as a mark of dissatisfaction/disagreement with the new start times.

That would cause maximum distruption in my opinion, I hope this is something they bring in.

There's a lot of criticism of Hayes/Ward the CWU on here, while Hayes is not the most popular guy on here most of us have faith that Ward and the rest will get us the best they can.
If they don't and they know it no doubt, they'll be out of a job.
I'm sure they're working their nuts off for us.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I thought we made a mistake going out on strike so soon, I always believed we should have worked to rule first tho I do accept the greedy and selfish (of whom there are far too many) would've ignored it and come in early, used their cars etc, doing our jobs properly is just about our best defence now. As long as we stick to THEIR RULES and don't make any major cock ups when we cut off, in time we should get somewhere.

There is a man in my office who comes in 40 mins early, uses his car, takes his D2D's home to prep AND rushes around just to finish on time. When I questioned him on this he said, and I quote " I do it so I don't get any grief from management" Until we make people like this see sense we are shafting ourselves good and proper and we won't win a thing.

You're right, but we've got idiots in our office who come out with crap like "I'll stop using my car, if everyone else does it." Or "I'll stop using my car if everyone resfused to do overtime." It's like school. So, the only way to make sure everyone hits the management is to strike. It's a shame, and I do believe we can bring the enemy to their knees just by doing the job according to their rules, but there we are. Some people just dont have the wit to see the bigger picture and what could be achieved by doing the job properly.

I heard it will be 2 hours, so start at 6whatever then cut
off at 12ish after going out at about 10.....good idea, bring
it back! Stopping the D2Ds over the next 3 weeks may
well be them buying time to sort out the new D2D arrangment
where we get paid nothing. could we refuse to deliver them
if thats the case?

why bother refusing and potentially get taken down the conduct code. Just take the time to prep a set in each day into the frames. It all takes extra time. PLUS it means you have to deliver to every delivery point on your route - again itll take longer = more work to take back at cut off time.
