How do you get away with the Sat times then,at times cause we're on the vans it's very tight!rhino49 wrote:We presently have a shorter Saturday (05:00 to 11:00) but as Royal Mail's new hours are based on 06:15 to 14:15 on each of the six delivery days for our office we were offered a chance to keep the Saturday shorter by moving time to other days, which of course would be specified by the management.POSTMAN wrote:I don't understand the "shorter saturday" malarkey!!rhino49 wrote:I think the later starts are a foot in the door for "flexibility" - already we have had changes in weekday hours railroaded through by a crafty DOM and an uninterested rep with the complicit assistance of staff who only see the words "shorter saturday" and do not realise the implications of having weekday hours adjusted to suit the business as a payoff. There will be no leaving the duty before 3 o'clock on some days to get the kids from school - no extended delivery payments until after dark - day off working that will become an afternoon job - and lots of "oh, your walk won't take you 'til that time - here have a row of this one as well - for free !!!POSTMAN wrote:That's later starts,Mad is talkin flexibility.chief wrote:A week tomorrow. It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

i remember when this dispute first started there were 22 strings which rm denied and said there were only 5, namely no weekend work in mail centres, no nights in do's, summer lapsing, later starts and the cap taken off d2ds but only paid for 3 lots. in return for us accepting they were going to give us a one off payment of £500/£600 but pay was to be frozen. they then said we had a choice of the lump sum or 2.5 increase and at about the same time removed the d2d string as this appeared to be the biggest stumbling block, leaving only 4 strings. to my mind 3 of these strings have either been or soon will be implemented, only summer lapsing still to be put in. so here we are 6 months down the line and rm have near enough acheived what they originally wanted without having to give us any pay increase. then 9th sept comes and they hit us with their real intentions which i believe can only have come from crozier. he is not an honourable man, he has toyed with our union and cares zero for us and our customers and i do not think he will bat an eye lid at the coming IA, but i think it will bring about his downfall as he will be responsible for severely damaging a public service that will take months to recover. our office for one has had its night shift decimated and there are now wall to wall yorks of unsorted mail and thats before the strikes. i say bring it on, hit them hard and get rid of this horrible little man, then hopefully with more meaningful guidance give the public back their service.
