I completely agree but that's another argument for another day...one that two or three of us on here seem to have been having since the introduction of this..."agreement".
The revisions tend to be arranged in the fashion of 2 deliveries, formerly two deliveries, add the parcels, tracked et al and knock 12 minutes off the working day

No...
SWW talks ended today (Fri)without agreement , Royal Mail want to use IWT and take those offices who have yet to introduce the SWW start 30 mins later on a Monday and 40 mins later on a tuesday.

Big difference from the union postion about banking an hour per week , or having time at the end of your duty.

both sides are reflecting over the weekend and are due to meet again but we are at this stage miles apart.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If RM insist banking the hour is a no no & they want the hour absorbed.
The CWU should insist that constitutes a revision & triggers the £600 payment that offices should have got for receiving walk sequenced mail & never did.
Leaving the last £200 for a DM revision.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

We got told today the three options that were getting looked at where starting 12 minutes later each day, extra days holidays through out the year or getting the hour payed on overtime.

No you have been mis informed as of yesterday and talks will continue next week , Royal Mail at this moment do not want to go down the road of banking an hour and an hours overtime was never on the table. Royal Mail have backed away from 20 mins later onMonday and 40 mins later on Tuesday. Now they are saying 3 options 12 mins later start per day pro rata for those who work less than 5 days , 12 mins of the finishing time per day pro rata form attendances less than 5 days , and 6 mins off the start time and 6 mins off the finishing time pro rata for attendance less than 5 days.

talks continue early next week.

What on earth can you do with just 12 minutes extra under the covers? Answers under a plain wrapper please.

If you work a 4 day week,a 9 day fortnight or week off scheme some weeks you will work more than your weekly contracted hours and some less.
Rather than pay you 60 hrs one week and 20 hrs the next or in the case of the wallington week nothing during your week off these hours are banked.
That's all that the union are proposing to do here, members will in theory at least still be expected to work 40 hrs, there will be no change to attendance times and instead they will bank 1 hr per week.

Royal Mail's position is that they would rather reduce the working week to 39 hrs but without a revision all you are doing is condensing 40 hrs worth of work into 39 hrs.
I'm not making a judgement on whether these offices actually have 40 hrs worth of work but agreeing to it sends all of the wrong kinds of messages to Royal Mail that it's acceptable to expect members to do the same work in less hours..
Fish; Thanks for that explanation.

In the example 'banked' means held( to be paid) . Whereas in my thinking 'banked' means held back (to be offset against hours)

Blimey , I'll get confused with myself.
