There is no way of knowing your IPS unless you have an agreed set amount of people. You have to agree locally what time people should leave the office. That takes the rush element out indoor.
If you have sick on the day or extra leave you lapse your indoor IPS or/and your prep by whatever bodies. If individuals are leaving at sporadic times then your IPS is short.
Big question here too is are the workplace coaches being utilised? Some sort of plan with the coaches help would be too find out who is bad on the IPS and who is good. Get the bad IPS people to prep different walks increases your performance on the IPS eventually. More importantly...it gets people talking to each other!

Re: Duty Builder 3
Totally agree - particularly a true figure of Hrs used and any volatile traffic streams (packets are high in workload and the ACFs can vary enourmously). Letter traffic figures should be spot on for mech at least - large letters should not be far away but there can be variances on streaming where MCs use T2K large letter sorting machines to process C5 or A4 as a contingency.fishtank wrote:The problem for a lot of offices is that the agreement on Setting the Indoor Performance for Delivery Offices states that All units should plan on the basis of improving or at least maintaining their current performance so getting a true, uncorrupted picture of your current performance is vital.
I would still say that a realsitic target for manual areas in a DO should be the same as for a MC ie 75 (with mech at 85). It is widely regarded as a good level of performance both inside RM and in other industries - anything higher should only be accepted as part of a wider finacial package IMO and needs to be ironed out nationally. Targets should be the same for a DO in Lands End and John 'O' Groats alike as the PVs should be uniform throughout the business and it simply makes no sense to have differant targets.

Re: Duty Builder 3
A Planning Value (RM Terminology). In other industries they normally just quote SMVs (Standard Minute Values) which are the same thing. A PV or SMV is quoted at 100BSI and is the Basic Time for the Tesk or Element of Work PLUS any Relaxation and Contingency Allowance. In Royal Mail Elements or Tasks are usually quoted per 1000 items if they are traffic related or sometime per Metre for trucking or walking. The frequency calculations can get quite complex in a Mail Centre particularly as there are so many streams of work and the same stream may split or enter the processing unit from differant sources.motherhubbard wrote:What is a PV?

My planner has said he goes in at 100 bsi then it s up to me / Dom to argue about our office bsi (85 ish) then convince some board of assurance of this?! He said 100 bsi is target and gives max savings potential. Said any savings manager then offers to his boss less than this he must justify!?
Thoughts
he's done the palnner to "optimum" whatever that is
He said its now for me and dom to thrash out our bsi and justify this to powers above.
so arguments sake optimum says we need 25 hours ips but in reality need 35 say?
that right?

Of course as that workload is proper to CWU membership.music4essex wrote:Also can I say to him that he has to take in to consideration the work the lino's peform that should be done by opg's
CWU should insist that only in extreme circumstances should OPG work be performed by CMA grades as the current custom and practise (adored by DSMs and directors as they are appearing to get something for nothing) is costing OPG duties and overtime. It is also adjusting baseline hrs used figures down to give offices an artificially high performance which is used as a baseline for future targets.
