My dig was at your dig regarding seniority......again,the guy did not get a full-time contract because of the senior men,he didn't get it because his manager is a cock.chrisj wrote:tolkien wrote:found out today that the DOM would not transfer him as he was so usefull with the hours etc he did :, the only way he could change his office and get the full time job was to do it off his own bat so he went to the office he wanted to join as he had heard of the hours he needed , he had to leave this office and reapply at the new depot, so trusting the new manager to keep his word and re employ him,but it all worked out ok and he starts his new job soon ,POSTMAN wrote:Really, that's a new one.chrisj wrote:
The problem is that your manager could not easily offer him full-time job at your office because people will be up in arms about seniority and so on...![]()
"while i appreciate that he must have needed the cash , if this firm had offered him a full time job , (there are some in reserve here)he would have stayed , , now it looks like the managers will have to do some work to cover all the duties he did , way to manage staff " I don't understand POSTMAN reply... You thought your manager should have given him a full-time job at your place, right?
Could your manager have given him a full-time post and why did he not do so?
Anyways, it is interesting to note that there are full-time jobs still available especially for someone that took the risk of re-applying for a job... The postman must be very good and/or well connected: good on him!
The suprise in all of this is that there was a full-time position elsewhere!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
