You can be fast doing the walking part but if the driver takes his time at dropping off your loop bags it can slow you up bigtime.
I have 8 loops but if the driver is 5 to 10 minutes late each loop thats 40-60 mins and another loop cut off
the first duty is like this, but the second i can work from the van without needing to drive to loops ect as its all very close together and in this instance i used a LWT and did my last 3 loops in the same time he completed 1 and i wasnt bursting my chops trying to do it as i did finish 15 mins late
someone who is just generally slow at everything should the other postie be expected to pick up the slack ?
i,m the driver and he's the slow one and always has been. I take up his loops and help him finish same time as me BUT now i'm the one sat at home on sick with fatigue and gonna get sacked . All the doms say is work as a team , do it how you want but don't cut off. Not bollocking the slow guy !!

this is what im afraid of is running myself into the ground covering for someone, luckily i dont have a duty so from time to time ill get a duty that works with a postie that is fine on the street but after a few years i can see this happening to alot of people in my office as there is a "Its a team effort" being thrown about and to an extent would agree i do help on other duties but when its constant like this one i dont have it in me and on top of it this guy was 50% tied down for me starting at 9am and i still had mail to put up ect he is the full timer and didnt offer a single shread of help ( not that i needed it ) but still i think it should work both ways since "its a team effort"
If you work at a susatainable pace and then have to cover other loops then so be it, just as long as you're not going over your time then why do you even care?

mainly because the guy was ragin and i felt bad just leaving him to carry on lol hes not intentionally slow otherwise id have no problem at all heading back to the office without them

You can't go back without your partner, so just carry on working without worrying about what your partner is doing up until your finishing time and then go back to the office and then go home. You're paid work for x amount of hours, I find it easiest to fill those hours by actually working than sitting bored out of my mind in a van.

What he may mean is he finishes on time but ONLY cos he's doing the other guys loops. He doesn't want to wear his legs out doing the other guys loops. He can't leave the guy on the street to finish cos they both need to be back BUT WHY SHOULD HE? The managers should REVIEW the delivery and REPORT discrepancies , not just say sort it between yourselves cos i'm going home now. This is like my duty and i'm currently fighting them over it

Why shoud he because he has the time to do it and at the end of the day.............we voted that in, work all the hours paid.

Correct we both do about 3 hours indoor then 5 hours outdoor, BUT he walks around 5 loops and I walk around 7 as well as the driving . Why should I put my health at risk for someone else? One working harder than the other is not in the rules is it?
What we need are walkie talkies to know where each BUDDY?!! is COME IN RUBBER HEAD , WHERE ARE YOU , GET A MOVE ON , OVER. etc. or the doms should watch us by satellite .

Yes of course you should, the share in 'van share' gives it away.
It doesn't matter who's loop is who's you deliver to the required level and if your partner falls behind you help them. Nobody is asking you to over-perform, to match someone's under-performance simply perform to the expected performance level until such time as return to office is deemed necessary for normal finish times.
If there is a regular amount of mail undelivered or overtime booked as a result of a particular employees inability to meet the expected level of performance then a Managers investigation will occur.
(One thing is for sure; if you wait for 10 to 15 minutes on each loop and overtime is required to complete delivery, the easiest target for conduct will be the one stood doing nothing whilst costing the office time.)

As tescojoe wrote they're "Not bollocking the slow guy" !! The slow guy plods on in good health cos he knows he will be helped. So there's van share and taking the proverbial.

If the duty can be done within the allotted time and nobody is delivering at a pace above that which is expected then why would someone be bollocked. If the duty is completing only because a single employee is performing at a pace greater than that which is expected then they should reduce their pace to match the level required.
If by working at the correct pace and helping their partner as required the team cannot complete within their allotted time, then the under-performing employee will enter the radar.
the problem with my P/L round is that the loops are only on one side of the road and fields the other side so the loops are not loops , you finish nowhere near the van and have to wait for your next bag
Himaggen your right , don,t overdo it but if the duty is going over the driver usually gets it in the neck for doing oversize packets before mail. It's a lose lose situation.
