Thank you.any idea's if this will this be decided at the meeting tomorrow?
Maybe but unlikely, they will have to look at the results of your interview and then make a decision (I believe the DSM or similar grade has to make it).
Thanks for your help

I'm on the same contract as you - but I have to go to the depot to collect the mail, tie up, do the D2Ds etc. That's what a 25 hour person is required to do. The fact that you took it home is an offense in itself (even though you say your manager set this up). This plus the D2D situation means that really there's nothing in your favor so it doesn't look good I'm afraid

I would make sure that your manager gets as much punishment as you - get any witnesses, documentation etc. as you can regarding this set up.

I didnt take it home, the mail is dropped off by a van driver to my home. I never attend work to the office, my manager arranaged for the van drivers to deliver directly to me. I am given the d2d's in boxes to my home in which im expected to add the d2d's to my mail within my 25 hours.

For all those who are questioning the position of the OP then you need to remember that this is something that RM wanted, bag carriers who have the mail delivered to their homes and deliver it from there (I believe it the 'Dutch model')

And thinking about it...........if they're having the mail delivered to their house then the D2Ds should be bundled in with the mail for that particular day :hmmmm

1) why would a manager deliver mail to your house. Its your responsibility to get to your D.O and they would get the sack for that
2) If your walk is getting preped, the d2ds would have been thrown in anyway. Why would they just deliver boxes of d2d to your house raw.

This is the honest set up. I have several drivers who come weekly and drop the mail off to me. My manager organised this set up. I used to go into the office but as my round is literally the area i live in the manager suggested it easier to have the mail dropped off to me.

Infact if im also i lier about the door to doors being dropped off in boxes, at the point of my house being searched by royal mail managers the boxes of door to doors were taken away for that week! They themselves saw how the door to doors had been sent to me and these were taken and noted.

I am no lier and this is exactly the reason why im asking for advise, if it was a clear case of d2d not done id hold my hands up simple! But fact is royal mail are also at blame for the fact the mail was ever allowed to be delivered to my house in this way!

Come on she has admitted to wrong doing and is asking for advice not name calling.

She has said a driver delivers it to her house.

How do you know its her responsibility to get to the DO, as DGP has stated this was a plan of Royal Mails anyway. Its the exact description of what we call the Dutch Model. You may know everything that goes on in your corner of Royal Mail, but you wont be aware of every practice that goes on. In huddersfield a few years ago we had one of the so call "waysiders".

Yes the D2Ds should have been prepped before they got to her, but as she does not go to the DO she probably didn't know. But we all know managers tend to find the path of least resistance and guess what, getting a senior postie to prep D2Ds for a 25 waysider is the path of most resistance so its entirely possible that the Manager sent it to them boxed and raw.

Now any advice, or will you just continue the name calling.

The "Dutch Model" is when the mail is prepared at a central location and then dropped out to Delivery only posties. The 2 Dutch companies (hence the name) Sannd and TNT both use it and do the same with the D2Ds as your manager does.

This is why the Union is against it, not enough protection for members, and far to open to abuse.

If you cannot put forward a convincing story to us when you have time to think before typing, how on earth do you expect to put a convincing argument to the Appeal Manager?
"Gender - Female" then "my wife trying to continue her day to day house hold duties as well" Which is it ?
Also if the mail is dropped off at your house in the morning what happens to packets and signed fors that you've not been able to deliver ?

the error that you have made is not so much not delivering the d2ds but not informing management . it is not your fault that your mail is turning up late and the d2ds are not prepped. you have your hours of work, when you reach your finish time if any mails or d2d are not delivered inform management,it is then there responsibility to collect it from your house and get it delivered
