Could be a bit knackering but the week off made it worthwhile.Sort of like being a teacher but without all of their stresses. You cant do a lot with a day off but with a week you can go somewhere.

Re: Wallington week
The Wallington week was the best part of working for Royal Mail in my opinion , around 13 weeks off a year including A/L .One year I had 4 trips abroad all at cheap prices because they were out of season

I wish the retards in my office understood that, almost to a man they voted to keep 5 day week with a rotating day off, then moan all the time about not being able to plan weekends and holidays.fishtank wrote: Balanced against a 1 in 6 day off scheme it's a no-brainer,against a 1 in 4,4 day week or 9 day fortnight it's not that great.

Re: Wallington week
Onaflyer , my experience of people not wishing to change to Wallingtons was due to 2 factors .Firstly some of them worked their rest day as o/t and were scared of losing this, but most are just accustomed to a way of working and are reluctant to change. It is extremely difficult to persuade posties to change their working practices even if it is in their own interests overall.Oftentimes though it is because a couple of them have a decent screw that they dont want to lose in what would be an overhaul of shifts and persuade their gullible mates to back them.
For me Wally weeks were the best invention since sliced bread.

Re: Wallington week
Depends on the size of the office. If it's an office of six there's no flexibility.97gaz wrote:Hardly retards because they don't want to work six days a week. I don't fancy Wallington. I've got hobbies and interests that I get to on my rotating day off. I don't want to wait six weeks to have some spare time. Our Dom is happy to implement Wallington on a sector basis. If six people are interested then he'll put it in for them. We've got six people doing four day weeks. Why does it have to be the whole office?OnAFlyer wrote:I wish the retards in my office understood that, almost to a man they voted to keep 5 day week with a rotating day off, then moan all the time about not being able to plan weekends and holidays.fishtank wrote: Balanced against a 1 in 6 day off scheme it's a no-brainer,against a 1 in 4,4 day week or 9 day fortnight it's not that great.

Re: Wallington week
Its ok if you get the opportunity to have a duty with SA attached. Most of them have gone from my office, there are only about 10 SA duties out of 150+ staff.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I,m lucky that most of the duty,s in our office are Mon-Fri ,and they could not get enough drivers to do o/t on a Saturday to coverStormproof wrote:Its ok if you get the opportunity to have a duty with SA attached. Saturday collections. That was the reason they brought Wallington duty,s in the first place.
