well, for the time being the dom,s put earlies in, and they put the d2ds out on a monday, or a saturday if you,re daft enough to get back to the office sooner than you,re finishing time. the porters(or ''bell hop, as we call them fondly :Very Happy ) dont have time to put them out.

So on one hand you have a gazillian pounds spent on super dooper sorting machines to.........cut down on the sorting, then you have a (what's a bit lower than a gazillian) pounds spent on new frames, kit, wotevas and ideas to..........speed up the sorting that hasn't been done by the super dooper thingies bought with the gazillain pounds. :hmmmm

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

On the one hand RM state that mail, and we can only assume it is machineable mail, is in a clearly defined decline whilst non machineable mail such as flats, small packets, large packets has an upward curve and requires hand sorting and so it makes sense to expend a large amount on machinery that clearly must have a defined declining life span................still not to worry we could be getting £200, pro rata, less tax and insurance over the next two years.

well this is it postman, when we were being sold this crap deal by our reps(area included) they were going round offices to explain to us why we should accecpt unlimited d2d as part of this deal as when these ''super dooper'' machines come in, they would have to justify the indoor work as there would,nt be any once the machines came in. they said ''the machines are going to ''oblterate'' indoor work. ha. what a geet big lie. sooooold down the riverrrrrr. we,ve got more indoor work now than we,ve EVER had. sorters are coming in early by upto an hour on overtime, and are still sorting at 20 to 9. thats 3 and a half hours of sorting of mail thats NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE. aye we were well and truly stiched on this one mate. :Very Happy happy days.

and if the mail volumes ARE falling as they keep trying to ''brainwash'' us, then why would we need to spend gazillions on sorting machines. that are going to end up not fit for purpose as there will eventually be no mail. :Very Happy happy days again.

We used to have 12 people on IPS sorting letters for one half of the office.
We now have 1, occasionally 2.

Yours must be a very small office. We have two CSS machines, new backless fittings, about 12 on packets, 3 on large parcels and about 25 on IPS letters and flats coming off at about 8.40 and sometimes everyone even the double preppers have to go on sorting.

Idiot's guide to labelling and positioning the boxes on an IPS frame.

• Opportunities to introduce a more cost effective / easier way to label fillets eg. Potential options to remove requirement for ‘Hot Press’. – Sliding Fillet options and computer printouts of labels similar to those used on Prep.
• Adoption of colour schemes to ease cleardowns.
• The Optimum process to reverse IPS fittings.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

i,m a double prepper or ''dee pee-er'' as we are called, (not to be confused with the porn industry's meaning of dp). and quite often they come and ask us to leave the prep and go and help out on the packets/ips. this is the perfect excuse to cut off, so now they tend to leave us and call in people on their days off to come in and cover handbacks.

Not seen a postman's uniform like that before.
We've had uniforms like this in our office for years  ... they give the managers easier access to the blue eyed boys :chuckle
And I suppose there are no blue eyed girls :chuckle
