There will probably be a re-arrangement of duties, such as bulks which will not be required at the same level, but we have had two revisions, we have 1 in 3 Saturdays and we have increased staff over the same period.

Concise ,but still the best ,most accurate answer :thumbup
Yep. Concise and accurate. Here's why:

What the planners mean is: they can't make the savings they want and put in 1 in 4 Saturdays off in at the same time, because they will actually not be able to cut jobs and save as much on "head count reduction". Why? moving to a longer delivery span means fewer delivery duties, but 1 in 4 Saturdays off needs more day off cover duties, e.g. moving from 1 out of 6 duties are cover duties, to 1 out of 4 duties are cover duties.

All the 9-Day Fortnight (1 in 4 Saturday off) duty sections have three deliveries and one cover duty. Hence, fewer deliveries, but not fewer jobs. Yes, the 9-Day Fortnights need an 8:40 day rather than 7:48, but with a longer delivery span, of 4 1/2 hours rather than 3 1/2, the longer attendance is soon filled up by the extra hour of delivery with a bit more prep (think of all those packets, Specials, etc) and maybe just a few more delivery points. This means there's no more time than before to be filled up with IPS to create a FT duty. By contrast, a 7:48 day leaves very little time for anything but prep and delivery, if you have a 4 1/2 hour span, so who is going to do the IPS? More FT people doing a bit less each...

:chuckle
