In my first week I was told to take the same day off as the guy who was teaching me his walk. Kinda makes sense.

There must be some kind of mistake there,or was there no management around when that decision was made?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

dohnut wrote:No offence but how did you get 35 hour contract, at the moment they are only giving out 25 hours if youa re lucky, I habe been with them over 4 LONG years and am only on 32.5 hours contract?. Is a relative a boss :)
i just saw the job on royal mail site...fixed term contract...35 hours a week...monday to saturday with a rotated day off...at my interview the guy said these are new contracts coming as wholesale changes are being made come end of the year...then each contract is reviewed at the end of its duration...i guess its like if they like u and they are busy they issue u another fixed term contract...if they dont you are out the door..

also something about postys won't be doing their usual rounds for much longer but will prob do different duties each day and/or week...i dont know how widespread that is but in my area that is going to be the case...

but as to why they are 35 hours and why some regulars are on less hours i have know idea...u know how the system works...its just dont lol!
