Whether this is true or not and i've posted this before...
A new guy at my place a couple of years ago was getting stressed out with driving a van as he couldn't get the hang of it so one day took out his parcels and delivered them in his car.
Line manager was aware and was ok with it.Well the job had to be done didn't it!
Rep and us didn't know about it till the next morning where the newbie was told it's a no no.
Can't rem what the rep done but if it was me i would of seriouly tore into the screw.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Yet another 'cars on delivery' question
It is however worth recalling what happended to a postman called Darren Cooper.
Darren Cooper, a Postman at Kesgrave DO was forced to use his private car on delivery by his Delivery Office Manager when the DOM wouldn't provide Crew Bus pick up arrangements and told Darren to use his private car in order to save money for Royal Mail. The Delivery Office Manager completely ignored all health and safety requirements, just like at Brentwood. On the 5th May 2006 Darren was involved in an RTA near his first delivery point with his first pouch of mail and 5 extra pouches of mail on board. Darren had to be cut free from the wreckage and sustained broken right patella (wired up), broken left femur (plate put in) left knee shattered (had to be replaced), 2 broken ribs, a broken left wrist and a dislocated left hand. Darren was disabled for life.

From what my Manager tells me, His bonus depends on it and I'd hate to let him down
He says that unless I work for free, his kid's will only be able to have a holiday in southern France this year, and not a Grand tour ( 88 days ) on the QE2.
I feel so guilty for letting him down
