Seniority isn't perfect....especially the fudged version that's being used and abused now but i can't really think of a fairer,more open way of doing things that doesn't allow managers to look after their favourites.
I suppose if you could 100% trust management it would be possible to think about other systems but that is really giving your mind a treat in this company.
