We need to stand together on this. Those b.....ds have been taking the piss for too long lying about the volume of mail expecting the impossible on delivery. If the union needs my support they have got it 100% but it will have to be done properly this time :Applause

If and when we get the call to IA whatever the 'cause' is please dear god let the CWU make sure they do it properly and don't ballot people who have left the company in the same ham fisted way BA and Unite have done for the last year.

I know this subject is getting boring now but if everyone did their job properly ( you know what I mean ) then there would be enough chaos without having to resort to IA.

Definitely industrial action.Recieved a letter this morning from Gerry O' Rooke,London area manager asking me along for an interveiw about VR or transfer even though i've said loads of times i wasn't interested. They are now starting to get really heavy, especially in London,so i say its time to fight back.

Why dont offices stop doing revisions? Why should royal mail honour their end of the deal when they're still getting what they want out of it?
Stopping CWU/member input into the revisions is exactly what Royal Mail wants.
You would still get screwed with the revisions....but they would be enforced, not agreed.
So from what you've just said you think that the union are screwing us over when it comes to revisions? because you said we'd STILL be getting screwed over but they would be enforced not AGREED, so the union are agreeing to things that are shafting us.

The point is martin with involvement an office has a chance to protect itself,OK some reps haven't exactly covered themselves in glory and some have been undermined by their Area Reps but at least at the end of the day there was an opportunity for members to get something from the revisions...even if it was just a vote at the end of it.
If we withdraw completely from the revision process do not expect them to stop or even slow down.

They will be implemented....the way Royal Mail want them...at pace and on their terms. :cuppa

what we need are hard and fast rules that every office follows, not ambevilent agreements that allow some union officials to look after themselves. and thats coming from a local rep who dispares at some of his colleagues behavior

Dingo, I do think now that it is time for OUR union to prepare the way for a fully backed official and legal campaign to make sure that the British Public are totally aware of the scandalous and illegal way, Royal Mail Management are reducing this once giant and great company into a shell of it,s formers self, and lining their own pockets at the expense of the Tax payer.
I cannot for one minute believe that there is any chance of any form of strike action that will be voted in by the majority or hold any favours with the public. I only wish this was not the case. We pay our Union executive high salaries to come up with the right answers, and they now need to start earning their money. They must scrutinise in infinite detail and challenge daily any unlawful practises by Royal mail. Any form of harrassment/bullying by management must be challenged immediately. Area Reps must be fully trained and ready to react immediately, not in a weeks time but immediately. Every local management decision must be analysed to confirm that it is in accordance with B2010 Agreement. Finding a way to introduce overtime bans, working to contracts. There will not be a quick fix to win back respect. This campaign must be built up over the coming six months so that we can peak at the busiest time of the year, and this time there must be no periods of reflection by our NEC. Our pay and terms of conditions requested must be sensible and sustainable, but we must not concede to any watering down of these, as we no from bitter experience what this means. Our NEC must be charged with coming up with a sensible proposition, agreeing the results with the membership and laying down these demands to the company. At all times giving the membership respect and reporting back immediately on all meetings with the company. If this is achieved then hopefully the membership will pull together, become stronger and encourage greater membership, and show this disrespectful company that we can only achieve a better and stronger business by working as one team.

The support of the public is irrelevant now, we live in a society of greed. Its run the the upper class trying to surpress the working class society. The people against are generally tory faced scumbags who run companies on min wage and want their worker to have no rights. I vote for strikes 1 week at a time. :nana :nana :nana

The question is this:

Is Mark Higson, Managing Director, actually directing and managing?

He is paid (well) to do just this, yet he seems incapable of living up to his title.

IA end of - stop talking and worrying endlessly about consequences, sometimes you just gotta chance your arm and put your money where your mouth is.

If you play a game with someone who always cheats your going to lose, so end this situation and grow some balls!!!

The problem is, if you take industrial action and can't sustain it you end up weaker.
Sitting here on red Clydeside I know our strikes will be pretty solid, but will that be repeated across the country and for how long is it sustainable?

As Fishtank asked earlier - we need to know who is running the company, because we need to know who we are up against.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

After last time, about eighteen months ago, can anyone seriously suggest that there would be significant support for Industrial Action ?
