our trolley's are left for up to an hour maybe longer, padlocked to a lamp post with mail and parcels in them, no word of not allowed cause run couldn't be done otherwise, housing estates too steep for them.
By the sounds of this he needs to contact H&S about weight and steepness of hill, there is documents on here about it somewhere.

Re: Thanks for taking the weight off my shoulder.
I get ankle pain after a week on a trolley duty.
as im leaving the office with a 100k+ sometimes
Traditionally the most common postal complaints are shoulder, wrist, back and knee.
as these trolleys are new i predict a crop of calf /ligament and foot injuries feeding through
in a year or two.

Excellent advice as always from you thanks fishtankfishtank wrote:If they continue to use the trolley's under these circumstances no-one will have to fake anything because it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt.
My suggestion for mailmonkey and postman8 would be to sideline the area and divisional reps as they are obviously pursuing their own agenda and move any disagreement and individual grievance through the Health and Safety side of the CWU,Royal Mail and ultimately the HSE.
Appreciate it.

i can see a very serious accident is on the cards with the lwt. the other week, during the high winds, a colleagues trolley(which was by this time, almost empty) was blown over and into the main road and into the path of oncoming traffic. this was as he was up a footpath delivering the mail. fortunately for him and anyone else, the traffic lights were on red, so there was no traffic coming. but if they had been on green, and it is a very busy road,,,,,well, you can imagine there could be very serious consequences for all involved. the postie would bear the brunt.fishtank wrote:If they continue to use the trolley's under these circumstances no-one will have to fake anything because it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt.

EXCELLENT ADVICE but sorry to say been there had every health and safety point from chatrooms/information sites to 2010 agreement the cwu health and safety rep was never asked to view are revision and did not get involved even after i questioned this. royal mail and worse still cwu have pushed it all to one side.mailmonkey wrote:Excellent advice as always from you thanks fishtankfishtank wrote:If they continue to use the trolley's under these circumstances no-one will have to fake anything because it is only a matter of time before someone is hurt.

Re: Thanks for taking the weight off my shoulder.
I have all the symptoms of tennis elbow which I believe are from using the trolly. It takes a lot of effort to accelerate and decelerate 30Kg 500+ times in a shift, especially when you have to keep the pace up to get done.
I've stopped using the trolley when I can and my symptoms have eased greatly. I'm putting it in writing that I believe the trolley to be bad for my health and giving them an ultimatum - let me carry a pouch or sign me off sick.

Re: Thanks for taking the weight off my shoulder.
It was my first day today, on the new P&L method,
actually it went quite well for ME (not RM)
I started dead on my time, worked till my break, had a nice refreshing cuppa.
Saw that I could not complete, left a full shelf, Bagged the remainder
(My buddy partner did the same) set off at the correct time.
Had a relaxing saunter round in the sunshine, we saw that we still had too much,
phoned DOM, another spare colleague came out and took a bag off us.
Finished dead on our time.
At the same time some idiots came in early, went out with ALL their walks, without taking a break
probably rushed round, finished back at the office, the same time as me!!!
HA HA HA HA!!!
