Some here clearly spend too much time playing pocket billiards in phone booths. Duh - there are less posties now. Or are we still trying to argue that old cliche about 'I'm delivering more so volume hasn't gone down' crap.
What I said stands, you can hardly blame the Shrek boys for a business that isn't making as much money.

Okay then, explain this!Night Tonic wrote:there are less posties now. Or are we still trying to argue that old cliche about 'I'm delivering more so volume hasn't gone down' crap.
If there are the same number of duties in a delivery office, each duty has the same number of delivery points, each and every duty is delivered by a single person every day and each of those people are not delivering less volume; where is that volume decreasing?

Re: Billy and Dave
If, as they claim the mail has dropped by 8% a walk that previously had 1000 items would now have 920. The drop would hardly be noticeable to an OPG.
If that 80 items drop was made up by 100 less letters but 15 more magazines (Red. Good Housekeeping, Antiques and Home, Saga etc ) and 5 more packets, the OPG would hardly notice the drop but would notice the heavier bags. Add to that a few more D2Ds.............
In some (affluent) areas the mail probably hasn't dropped at all. In some business sectors the drop has been substantial.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Again has nothing to do with what the CWU is able to do. Few threads on her bemoaning the union but quite honestly what do you expect it to do and with what??? Heck (and this applies to previous strikes) you can only bargain from a position of strength and I didn't see any then and I don't see any now - or unity. Wardy didn't see any other option given the financial situation which is why you got the deal you did. No one gives a hoot about the postal service any more. Apart from quick chats with Cameron over a mince pie, the union is powerless to do anything. Sill, moaning about the union gives plenty for Higson to laugh about I suppose. As for morons, well, stand back a little.belle smith wrote:Define "faster than a poped ballon", moron.Night Tonic wrote:Some here clearly spend too much time playing pocket billiards in phone booths. Re: Billy and Dave
I'm not argueing that there has been no drop in mail volumes, not since the resession started. But RM the goverment and Richard Hooper bend the truth to breaking point. and you and Tman lap it up.Night Tonic wrote:Or are we still trying to argue that old cliche about 'I'm delivering more so volume hasn't gone down' crap.![]()
So i have a challenge for you Richard hooper said in his original report that RM had lost £500m because of falling mail volumes.
See if you can find it in RM posted accounts to Companys house........you wont it's not there!
Futhermore you will also find if you read the small print in MR Hoopers report that his finding is actually nothing more than a RM claim since thats his only source for this.
No crap about how much i'm carrying!
