The amount of times over the years I had to 'advise' customers NOT to send money in cards through the Post...Send a cheque or Postal Order ...
Doesnt excuse the behaviour though of a few wrong 'uns though.

What sort of office are you in when they steam cards open. Surly someone in a canteen would spot them or are they all idiots or does nobody take breaks there?kingofmcr wrote:i hate delivering birthday cards that have been slit open ..in the last few weeks i have noticed that a few look like they have been steamed open...im guessing this happens in the big sorting depots at night ..
I Think you mean the sender has not licked the gum proper.

iv worked in mail centres and far from being a collection of small rooms they are more akin to warehouses with 40ft ceilings and often high walk ways/ gantry's where managers look down on the machine ops .possible i imagin to pocket something but to plug in a kettle and sit there clutching mail in a cloud of steam!
come on!

The flip side of that argument is that your MC has poor security and the five caught is just the tip of the iceberg.barbario wrote:There seems to be decent security at my MC.They have caught five people stealing in the past two years.

Re: Thieves in RM
Maybe it would stop if Managers had to deliver the said opened envelope and apologise to customers in person.
Like someone else said, I tell customers not to send anything of value through the post unless it's sent special delivery, money these days can be transferred by electronic banking anyway.

And don't forget all the cameras! No, they won't have been steamed open. There's no opportunity to do that. But it might be that they weren't sealed properly in the first place.chunk wrote:Spot on Eric.Eric Cantona wrote:What sort of office are you in when they steam cards open. report it, you wont get anyone of any value in trouble, regardless of their tales of woe. they are verminanalogsynthman wrote:Hi everyone, i've been a postie for five years, but yesterday i experienced the saddest day in that time.
I went to my parents house as it was my mums birthday and she showed me 3 birthday cards she'd had delivered by her postman.
All 3 cards had been opened prior to delivery, 1 had been sliced open along the top edge and the other two just blatantly ripped open.
I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with her postman, he seems like a genuine nice bloke, but whoever it is doing this within RM is giving us all a bad name. They want hanging IMO. Very sad.
all the best to the honest hard working folk on here, analogsynthman.

Good Idea with the Spare "Sorry we've trashed your mail envelopes" Redbag
I'll add some to my already bulging pockets. Be careful with the cellotape though! I was once given a right bollocking for having some on my frame. The DIM said I could have been opening mail and then sticking it down again. Cheeky Bastard!

Oh come ON!! There's a reason WHY people send cash in cards. I'm not THAT old but I can still remember getting a birthday card from Granny and finding a tenner in it and being as pleased as punch... a BAC's payment receipt just wouldn't have been the same some how!Lateagainpostie wrote: money these days can be transferred by electronic banking anyway.
