Re: Royal Mail bankrupt by February
Lets be honest anyone who has been in the business a number of years will have heard this all before
Losing a million a day and the mail dropping off so quickly that we will have NOTHING to take out in a years time
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I haven't given mine any money since Leighton announced that we were going to the wall in 2003 but maybe i'm just a tight Scottish stereotype.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Royal Mail bankrupt by February
So, private financial institutions and banks, ( owned by private and istitutional shareholders, who should understand if you invest in us & we screw up, you lose your money ), have heavy regulation removed / restricted screw up, beg for money from the Govt and get billions of pounds thrown at them, with a vague promise that the money will get paid back ( at unspecified times, in unspecified amounts, with unspecified levels of interest ), with little to show that they've earned it, and even less to show that they're going to do anything different in future.
Yet, a Govt owned business ( from which Govt traditionally drained of profits in the past ), is put in the yoke of heavy and onerous regulation which vastly reduces it's ability to make a profit ( before the inequality of regulation between us and our competition is considered ), yet still manages to perform it's legal obligation of universal service, however when strong rumours start to come out in staff briefings that RM WILL run out of money sometime in the next 12 months, the obligation is on the staff ( and especially the lower orders of staff ) to make the sacrifices, and bring about the cuts, or the whole shebang is going to go to the wall, and no one's going to get paid, rather than go to Govt, and demand it takes on it's own ( moral ) obligations...
Well, I don't know from whom this bullshit has originated, but if this is what they try to sell me, they can get stuffed, 'cos I ain't buying it - I'm going to carry on my job as I do now, and wait to see a Govt survive our going out of business.

Anyone who has ever had the slightest connection with RM will know that the phrase "lions led by donkeys" is very apt.fishtank wrote:

Let the donkeys take the crap from now.
The lions are too fecking tired to jump through any more fecking hoops.

Re: Royal Mail bankrupt by February
Any offices being offered redundancy or buydowns ATM?
Just seems strange as our office is about to increase outdoor delivery by 1hr involving quite a number of deliveries going. So much for a fair delivery load and not "BUDGET".
However, they say no evr's are buydowns to be offered?

RM should be rolling in it with the top brass' business acumen, I heard Higson and co recently paid £400 million to a Nigerian businessman for a contract to hand deliver Emails
