The SAS wouldn't take on this job - they only engage when there's a slim chance of a positive outcome.DGP1 wrote:What the hell is the 'Hereford system'?? Is that where the SAS get trained as posties.

Does this apply to overtime too?RetroJunkie wrote:if i took that though, id go over my time everyday, as i have the redirects , kill offs , packets being marked n tying up , then waiting to be dropped to my first point of delivery before i even start delivering.POSTMAN wrote:Regarding breaks...
the fact that u go in sometimes to ur walk not fully thrown off n not a 6th of door 2 doors prepped haha i just dont see it happening, id be claiming overtime everyday or needing to cut off.
Sometimes i do 2 walks a day (my own and another) and my scheduled finish is 18:48 (13hr 08 min working day). I still only get 40 mins break though.

Well you are being done.
If it's "normal overtime" you are due 70 min paid break.
If the overtime is SA you are still entitled to the extra break but is unpaid.

Re: Walks Being Tested
we have gone through revised longer walks. into 2nd week and already more in overtime being spent than money they were meant to save. cut offs are common. only 2 years ago we got bonus as being best office in the East scotland. now we could not care less. Mail left, parcels stacking up and manager not listening. says it might be good idea to come out on a walk and see what the problem is!
He also says we can sort frames in 45 mins!! we do not get sequence mail. I asked was this some computer saying this or has someone actually done it and he does not know. Too much reliance on computers. Rubbish in rubbish out.
One of our guys a first class runner used his GPS watch on his walk. Gives speed, time , distance and even hills etc up and down. took print out in and was told did not matter their computer is what matters. says it all really

Computers are wonderful. They're like mirrors, in that they reflect the competence and intelligence of the user in the things that they do and show. It's amazing how much faith 'numbers people' invest in what is 'said' by a computer. A computer is only reliable if the data input is reliable.
