Doesn't surprise me finances are getting worse. Look at the cost cutting excercises.... purchasing vans for sharing which will slow postmen down which cost a fortune to buy, run and maintain. Absorbtion which actually cost more to deliver than putting one person on that round due to cut offs it causes, full time staff replaced by temps and casuals who work at a much slower pace, etc. Could go on but I won't.

Basically the RM is suffering for a complete lack of knowledgeable management that haven't got a clue how to run a business, any business let alone the RM. Decisions need to be made by the people that do the job, that know where cuts and savings can be made not slash n burn merchants that pop in for a year to slurp on the gravy chain then feck off with thier nice big bonus packages! :so there :hmmmm
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Your never hear that from me !! If you have already given up in your office then thats down to you. I have and will always remain someone who believes that you only get the best agreements in Royal Mail by fighting for it and leading the members in the right way locally in order to ensure that we get the right deal.

But a question as much as people moan at the CWU who is the person you will ask for help if suddenly Royal mail has a crisis and because the stationary office has found out and demanded payment for the million envelopes upfront that Royal mail cant afford the wages of its staff ???
'locally' When did you have that epiphany 'truth'? towards the end of the 2007 dispute, when we settled on RM's terms.

I'm paraphrasing here but i distinctly remmeber before and during the strike that RM wanted our offices isolated, that local negotiations would result in worse deals. which by the time the national officers had came round to RM's plans had been neatly (and extremly dishonestly) changed to "the best part is you'll get a say locally". (if you want verbaitum quotes i'll have dig out the CWU coraspondanece, but don't even think about denying it) not to mention 'de-coupeling our pension'

or was it the last dispute. RM are ignoring national agreements (delivery spans) and refusing to negotiate new agreements at a national level. (pegasus and IWT) luckily for us the the CWU was able to negotiate the abolisin of delivery spans and an agreement on the use of pegasus and IWT without the performance standards which would be used in the tools, you also got us a pay cut and more 'local' negotiations, CHEERS! in the words of Fred Goodwin this was not a negotiation it was a drive by shooting.

Btw the contents off both agreements we were 'offered' at local level before hand, we weakly refused until that is you's had agreed nationally and left us with no option. yet you and Dingo have the gal to come on here blaming us. for the national officers failings. INCREADABLE!

All this scare mongering is being managed from above. There is no way that any government be it Tory, Labour, Condem, can allow the postal service to grind to a halt and staff not being paid. This would be an even greater catastrophe than a few banks going under. Can you imagine the crisis in the country if mail/packets etc came to a grinding halt because of cashflow. The businesses are up in arms if we have a few days on strike. There would be so many companies go to the wall, tax revenues would fall. They would not even be able to call in the army as there numbers have been eroded over the years and they are so tied up in different war theatres of the world, that numerically there would not be enough. No, this is another propaganda mission to strike fear in the hearts of postpersons and to make the move for privitisation more easy to stomach by the people of this country.

The truth! wrote:Royal Mail have a real cash flow problem , meetings with Royal Mail senior managers have confirmed that compared to last year the negative cash flow is over 500 million adrift.

The 2010 agreement was based on Royal Mail`s business plan which is way off track as revison have not been completed and there is a question of whether the business can actually fund the agreement going forward.

Royal Mail are even thinking of lending more money to pay for their loan which is madness.

Whether you choose to believe this or dimiss this its up to you but if things continue as they are by August next year Royal Mail will have no cash flow for anything including wages !!! Now if things get worse then this point can be reached by April.

There are a lot more serious issues then doing a few more door to door or whether the agreement is good or not , this business is in a crisis and whilst we do not want or need priviatisation we do need a politcal solution.

Odd as funds from the extra DTD ae not going to us RML are having 100% of the income from additional DTD.

Supplement is from the ESA/DTD money RML used to pay so costs hould be a non issue for the delivery supplement which and is not a payment for DTD.

This company is a shambles. This country is a shambles. Havent Royal mail taken advantage of the deregulation of the rest of europes postal services, and done a few dodgy DSA deals? Or maybe ,just maybe most of them are still nationally owned and not deregulated. Since that idiot Blair opened us up for what is laughably called "competition" years ahead of everyone else we have been on a downward spiral. Level the playing field, get the machines that are needed and sort this mess out. A company with a 7 billion pound turn over must be viable. It riles me that idiots like :lfo + :mfo can come into a business they know sweet FA about, f**k it up and walk away with millions, and it riles me even more that it always seems to be the workers f***ing fault :evil/mad.
The government need to get it into its head that nobody will be interested in taking over this company and continue as a nationwide postal network. it is not profitable for the chancers and spivs, not without decimating the USO, one price goes anywhere, and a 6 day week delivery. We can look forward to a third world postal service at this rate, a shame for the nation. The queen wont want to have anything to do with us either. We will be just "Mail" 350 years of heritage thrown away to line some greedy people pockets.

The most and strangest thing about 'the truths' prooganda is the fact that governments have repeatedly asked for the 'books' only to refused so now all of a suden they announce to all that belive the 'bullshit' were' broke '. Look here's our projected finances for the next year or so handy i supose for the media to obtain these words sent out by the biggest ' liars ' royal fail just before the big man Cable cobbles together some kind of deal with Camerons big business budys for a sell off

Well the management briefing clearly states....
3.5% in April 2012 (linked to plan on track and reopener clause if inflation outside forecast range)
So what's the chances of that 3.5% now? :chuckle :chuckle
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
