Re: screwed again
Enough of the talk and tell chas an dave to do sommat about it.dingo wrote:MTSF states that any fixed term contract staff with more than 24 months service should me given a permanent contract.
Royal Mail are currently ingnoring this part of MTSF and are trying to use the law as the guide for making fixed term contract staff permanent which is 4 years.
Discussions are being held at National Level. Any issues at local level should be referered to the area rep and the disagreement procudure should be used.
The Union is confident of ensuring that Royal Mail will abide by the national MTSF however if they do then it is highly likely that those with less than 24 months service will see a terminatiion notice.

Re: screwed again
Well its quite simple the CWU will demand nationally that Royal Mail honour the agreement.
However certainly in London if they dont make up the Fixed Term contracts who have done 24 months then they wont be getting their revisions done and will not be making savings.
Unlike a lot of posters on here this union`s strength has never been in CWU HQs its been at Branch level providing you show some leadership and have the bottle to stand up.
To many on here are happy to put all the blame at CWU HQs without fighting their corner locally the union starts in the workplace.
The strength is in the workplace providing you ensure that you have a common goal.

Re: screwed again
I agree with you dingo the union does start in the workplace...it's just a shame in a lot of areas that where it ends as well.dingo wrote: Unlike a lot of posters on here this union`s strength has never been in CWU HQs its been at Branch level providing you show some leadership and have the bottle to stand up.

Kind of makes you wonder what the £6,000,000+ of members money paid out in union salaries exactly relates to.
It doesn't at the moment relate to value for money...does it?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: screwed again
No dingo, too many of us at local level have no rep, or very new reps who don't have the facts, and Area reps who seem to be happy to let Royal Mail get on with what they want.
How are we supposed to fight all this sh1t when none of us even know what RM can and can't do, we have a manager telling us he can do what he likes, and no opposition...
On occasions where rep has opposed something, Area Rep has overruled him, I'm not sure how much longer our rep is going to continue, shame as he's working hard.....

Re: screwed again
Well according to the agreement, holding back on implementation of revision is a No No, especially, I would have thought, for an unrelated issue.dingo wrote:Well its quite simple the CWU will demand nationally that Royal Mail honour the agreement.

Well in order to make a stance and fight you really need to know where the stance is and that brings me to the last point; leadership, as I have always understood it, comes from the top down.......................especially if it is a paid for service,....................and that leadership should communicate to the membership where the line in the sand is drawn. What you are advocating is the sniping tactics by individual branches which brought twenty days of strike action without a result.

Then shouldn't that be a national boycott then?Well its quite simple the CWU will demand nationally that Royal Mail honour the agreement.

If RM go against the MTSF agreement then bollox, all agreements are void till it's sorted.Simple.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The union aint got the balls to do anything anymore. As this will happen nationwide then i would say its a national problem and should be dealt with at the top level, so dont say its a branch thing and palm it off on others to try and sort out. Chas and dave agreed to this bag of s**t agreement so they should at least honour it.

Re: screwed again
Dingo your last post was a complete insult to myself.
Is the common goal of the union to defend its members jobs and that also lays at the door of H/Q not branch/local level talk about passing the buck jesus man get real and stop patronising us.
How dare you say the fight starts in your workplace we need to stand up.
Have you any idea what it is like for a local rep at present , I very much doubt it.
The people that have forgotten how to fight are the ones down at H/Q and the ones only doing the fighting are us at ground level.
Do all high ranking union official's have the same blinkered view as yours .Thinking that we are weak at ground level when it is us who are the strongest.
Have you any idea what it is like to go into a work place on a daily basis and have to fight tooth and nail for everything I very much doubt that.
What your post has proven to me is how out of touch you really are with what's happening in D/Os across the land.
We have fight in us are you prepared to lose money to defend peoples jobs like we are prepared to do.
It shows how weak you are at H/Q when you cant even bring yourself to mutter the words I/A to protect these people.
Instead you spit your dummy out the pram and just say we will stop doing revisions is that going to stop the people affected losing there jobs NO.
Now you tell me how is that being strong because I cant see it what I see is a union hiding behind a very poor agreement great.
Ask uncle Billy to go and tell the ones losing there jobs over the next couple months do you think they will see it as a union being strong.
I think what you need to admit Dingo is that the CWUs days defending its members jobs are well and truly over.
So i applaud you and all those at H/Q for thinking were weak at branch and local level and I shall pass your comments onto my branch.
Does H/Q now have the balls to hold a national boycott of this agreement like postman has suggested until this one matter alone is sorted i very much doubt this aswell
So Dingo Dave over to you for your response.

Re: screwed again
Very thought provoking MonkeyBoy - little wonder that people leave the union because of the attitude of those who stand to lose the least - unless the money isn't forthcoming. Having said that it looks like they've managed to secure their own futures financially.MoNkEyBoY wrote:Dingo your last post was a complete insult to myself.

Re: screwed again
DVD it has to be thought provoking as H/Q don't have any fight in them if there incapable of defending us we will stand alone and do it ourselves. H/Q need to grow a pair quick.
I've been thinking about this issue walking around my delivery today.
Surely during negotiations R/M made the CWU aware that they would be letting go most people on fixed term contracts under 2 yrs service.
If they didn't isn't it the just case to with draw from the agreement and ballot for I/A.
Its the CWUs lack of response to peoples lives being ruined that leads me to believe that they new.
And if they did know it was there responsibility to inform the members.
I am glad to be corrected on this issue if im wrong but the lack of fight from H/Q says it all.
Remember it was H/Q that negotiated this agreement not branches or local D/Os.
Also what percentage of D/O workers voted in this ballot compared to M/C workers i only ask this due to the very low turn out at the ballot boxes.
One smells a rat and come on Dingo Dave give us a reply.
