I mean putting in more effort than the average person, in every industry this actually protects jobs. In fact - it is good for the soul to work hard. If you dont like it then find an easier job!!

Not saying you are but that sort of thinking went out in about 1950 but it does appear in on occasion.

If management really want a work force that is engaged and willing to go he extra mile or even accept change, then they have to treat them with respect, involve them in the changes (not by imposing them except as a last resort), actually use the systems already in place not for box ticking but to actually make changes (HYS surveys) and most of all listen to them when they raise concerns of fears rather than overriding them. Autocratic management never engages it only alienates.
