Re: SDD revisions.
My point was the revision when we went to SDD.Hense your drivers would not be in the situation you describe.Lounge Lizard wrote:You imply that vans are able to take on more Specials which isn't always the case, especially on Rurals.POSTMAN wrote:Going back in time here, the reason being is that when we had ours we made it so the reg went on the vans.
The reason for this obviously is because we all finished on the road and what with getting out later there would also be the problem of not being able to do the reg by 1pm.
So i can't understand why so many of you walkers are still doing them and judging by the posts on here are having major trouble doing them in time, confirming them either done or not done, getting them back ect.
Also there are a lot of posts regarding them failing as well because of this.
Wtf happened?![]()
Our vans often struggle to finish before 3pm on busier days, so for Specials towards the end there's a need to deliver in a different order or go ahead then double back to meet the 1pm deadline which might add about 15 minutes to the day- adding Specials from the bike walks, who always finish earlier anyway, just wouldn't be practical.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: SDD revisions.
My point with this thread is that there are again on here more and more posts coming out about failing specials, phoneing up confirming, having to rush back and forth ect
This was an obvious thing to happen when we went to SDD.
Now moving on to P&M where more revisions have been had,a lot of offices have had this going on since SDD started.(was it in 03?)
I mean come on,if wern't going to go with the CDV's,how longer would this have gone on for, haven't some of you had enough of it?

Re: SDD revisions.
Our Drivers would not have time todo them, quite simple, they can just about get their overtime in and breaks done within normaly Duty time let alone do anything related to doing the job properley!
Hope the Management read this!

Nobody in my D.O. really has a problem doing them.
Taking them off the walkers and dumping them on the drivers was never an aim of either SDD or P&M.
Our drivers have enough work at the moment but if that ever became a problem we would look at it.They have after all ended up with all the tracked work which is growing by the day and if we took them off the walking guys what work would they have to take to replace it.
The fact that a few of them fail is RMs problem not ours..they changed the start times not us,
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

then cut as required for my finish time
soon I will no doubt be doing the same

I'm talking about recent posts and posts over the years on RMC regarding this.fishtank wrote:I don't get it PM.POSTMAN wrote:My point with this thread is that there are again on here more and more posts coming out about failing specials, phoneing up confirming, having to rush back and forth ect

There seems to be a lot of flapping about and failures because of it.
Just seems a bit of a nightmare for some offices tbh.
Also with P&M we got PDA's which seems a bit two faced from RM regarding they way they publicise the specials being scanned and that they then can be checked in real time.

Re: SDD revisions.
specials at my office are done by whoever is on the walk covering that area. result many do not get delivered on time. Given we do not get out until 1000 this is regular occurrence
