I think the concern here was that ' a job was going to get lapsed regardless'

So, how does that work? Because they are going to do it regardless ; we should just accept it and 'find a solution'. How about saying that it is not acceptable.
Perhaps my use of 'a job was going to get lapsed regardless' should have been worded differently. We were told that we wouldn't be expected to lapse on busy days and it would not be a problem. However, when things were quieter and lapsing was possible, a job was going to be lapsed and everyone was expected to take their share.
And there's the rub. Only lapsing on days that are quiet.

On Monday we were told we are lapsing every day (not Saturday) this week..

So, they know the traficc figures in advance?

Thats your office mate

As far as my office goes, for a section to point blank refuse, regardless of traffic, is not fair on the rest of the workforce IMO.

Patrick this is the exact reason R/M hate us old timers in your words, because we are prepared to make a stand against R/M unlike a handful of early service posties.

We are not work shy *unts we are just workers who expect R/M to adhere to agreements and if we feel strongly enough about an issue we are prepared to make a stand.

Im far from work shy i may be a *unt but thats another story.

Dont worry in my office its only F/T that lapse is that fair nope.

Lapsing isnt fair full stop its a joke, penny pinching, slave labour before lapsing R/M used to take on summer staff, now theres no need i fecking hate lapsing

We dont lapse YET!!!! I see lapsing as being a bit like this flexibility sh*te. If we can lapse on quiet days and they push that boat out then I would expect them to get off of their ar*es and help me on busy days so that I dont need to cut off, stream or book ot. It is only fair. It should work both ways.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

A lot of people are worried about how the whole d2d things gonna work(count the d2d posts lately)!
regarding prep time weight and increased drop-rate/delivery span..
should lapsing really be included in the mix right now...
after all lapsing is based on the assumption your getting back early and that there is spare capacity.

Started this lapsing bollocks in my office now, and you should hear the moaning about it. Thing is as has already been said, people moan but then they still rush round do their duty plus the lapsing and still finish at 12:30 :arrrghhh

We started this week! It seems the other sections in my office also started this week. All except the old timers who are digging their heels in the f***ing work shy c***s! Unluckily for them, the DOM is having none of it :Very Happy

Not all " old timers " are " workshy c****s " I agree you will get some in every office, but i would imagine the majority will not let the management bully and intimidate them, and why should they? Its the old timers that will challenge the doms and its the "old timers" that look out for bullying and intimidation of the the new starters .Not many posties in general know RM proceedures, but some like me , have learned loads on this site and know what management can do and cant do , and what they can get away with.So of course people like you see, see people like me being left alone and jump to the wrong conclusion. And no, i am NOT a workshy c****t, i just stand up for myself...........
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

i am one of the "old timers"
but still work my ass off to get done and home nice and early and i feel that is appreciated by the boss!!!
but on a hot day it is bleedin hard graft!!!

I never have time for lapsing, whether it be summer, winter, or spring. Unpaid overtime is anathema to me. :cuppa
