Perhaps one of these might be more suitableLounge Lizard wrote: Maybe, but if Glennyboy has got two friends they might not want to go to the same place and at the same time as him.

Re: cycle2work
I thought the limit was 400 English Pounds, but one of the lads says its 500 Welsh Pounds, ( due to the new Govt, this now equals 500 English Pounds...)
So, what is it??? Also, can you "top up" the amount and get a spiffy, shiney new bike??? And is Halford our ONLY scheme supplier???
It's around £500 that they start to get a bit of quality...
Thanks all.

Re: cycle2work
TT I don't know if they still do it but my voucher(£350) had an extra 10%(i think) added to it, a sort of freebie for lights/helmet etc. If you don't see the bike you want in Halfords they can source it for you. I got a Claud Butler Hybrid which they sourced, was about £40 dearer than the shop I see it in. You can get a decent bike for £500, I don't think I would want to spend much more incase it got nicked at work.

The maximum Royal Mail allow is £500 which has to be used through Halfords, you can not top up with your own money. If you are after a particular bike that Halfords do not sell they can order some other makes in as a special order.Thunderthighs wrote:I thought the limit was 400 English Pounds, but one of the lads says its 500 Welsh Pounds, ( due to the new Govt, this now equals 500 English Pounds...)

You are also allowed free accessories worth 15% of the amount you choose to spend which you also get from Halfords.

Re: cycle2work
This is the first I have heard about this scheme. Anyone care to elaborate on it slightly as the details of the scheme are a bit sketchy within the thread.
If I am managing to get the jist of things correctly:- RM gives you a voucher for upto £500 to buy a bike from Halfords and you pay it back in instalments? Taken off your wage every week kinda thing?

Re: cycle2work
The accessory offer isnt in place now IIRC
you can use your voucher at any shop running cycle2work,however since Halfords adminstrate the scheme.
they charge the shop 10%,meaning the shop doesnt have leeway for deals discounts that Halfords have.

Re: cycle2work
the ideal number of bikes to own can be expressed as n+1, where n=the number currently owned. it can also be expressed as s-1, where s=the number of bikes owned that will cause your other half to leave...
