it was a no vote from me,but that is history now, i have to conceed that the potential for improvement definitely exists.the revelation that disagreements are now surfacing underlines that potential.its crucial we all committ to the spirit of the agreement by sharing our thoughts loudly, and often.its no time to lay down now

A union can no more represent ALL of its members than we can please all your customers.

Dingo, how do you expect people to react? i have only been in the job for 3 yrs,i am 45 years old,i have been working since i was 15 ,this is my 4th job from then, the management ethic of intimidation, bullying, dissmissiveness, harrassment etc. is systematic, other RM staff have had to put up with this for far longer than me,this system cannot change,it is part of their doctrine,a manager at my DO would commit hari kari rather than enter a period of local discussion to move forward, sorry fella only a complete change of management will bring about a fair policy throughout RM,if a system in any DO is implemented, let the managers together with the CWU rep & a delivery postie do the walk before it is ractified, not using some arsey pc programme that uses a square peg to fit in a round hole

Sorry I think you are utterly and totally wrong. The Union can and must represent all the views of all its members, or at least take them on board. After all that is one of the reasons behind its existence in the first place.

I think if you changed "represent" for "keep happy" I would agree with you. After all in a democracy of 117,000 there will be conflicting opinions and beliefs and by dint of that fact some sector of the membership will be disappointed in any negotiations or agreements.

I agree. The present management dont want to change. I heard from DOM this week that the office has to collapse (lapse) 2 walks every day throughout the summer period. We have a staff ratio of 20%full time to 80%part time.(not a hope in hell). The DOM and the DSM dont give a damn about the new agreement, office revision etc. They are totally oblivious to the changes that are supposed to be taking place. I say we are in a big a fight as we have been over the past couple of years. Hold on tight everyone

Now there is a question for dingo to answer - but it is his understanding that these problems had been sorted - typical politico speak, "it's my understanding" translates to "I don't really know nor care".

No, what is depressing is that this agreement may turn out as bad as we have painted it. Going on past experience it will probably be worse.
With regard to the prep rates, it is obvious that they were designed by someone who has never prepped or delivered them.
Take an average week, with 3 D2D's. All 3 will be a different size. It takes longer to prep an A4 size single sheet
than it does a C5 size envelope. Lets not mention how long it takes for the ever present pizza leaflet. While I'm on my high-horse, will the union put in the same effort to ensure that all delivery staff deliver their quota of D2D's as they put into getting a Yes Vote?

To be honest pinstripe I don't really care for the actual "how longs" and "what ifs" in this agreement.
I just want to know about the governing of standards and management in all this.

I will do the job asked of me on any day if feasible for me personally. I don't always want or have to finish for a certain time.
I just want to work and get paid for that work - no questions asked. Furthermore, I want my overall contract to reflect the commitment I am showing to the business in hours and expect the same in kind when it comes to holiday pay, bonuses etc.

The problem here is not the by-product, but the management who will oversee and implement the decisions ultimately...

HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING A PAYMENT FOR THE POLL CARDS WHEN MY AREA REP TELLS ME NOBODY HAS BEEN PAID FOR THEM. THANKS.

Its fairly straight forward you get your area rep to inform CWU Headquarters who will take it up with the relavant person. When this has been done then its has normally been paid. What Royal Mail have stated is that where an office last time got paid for downstream access polling cards they will honour that. Its easy to confirm as it is on pay roll. Plus there was hardly any DSA at the last election.

That dingo is not what the agreement says and you know it. Fairly straightfoward? Does the agreement state that people should be paid or not - THAT is straight forward.
