Yes that could happen, but as far as we know there is no plans to allow home parking.nationwide wrote:I read in the Courier last month about the new ways of working and in one case study it said that the paople concerned delivered the large packets as they went around their walk, they did this it said to save them from going back to the DO.
So that being the case if you go to work in your car but the person you work with takes the van home allowing him to go straight home when finished,( because as he said all large parcels delivered so they don't have to go back to the DO)does that mean you would be able to take your car out to the first point of delivery, leaving it there and doing the walk from that point in the van. Then when you have finished providing there is nothing left to take back to the DO the driver drops you off back at your car from where you go home and he does the same but in the van???

Thats very bad news Fishtank. I assume someone has spoken to HQ.fishtank wrote:mcboing boing wrote:

Although they have probably agreed it along with everything else. If it has been agreed along with a full roll out agreement on park and loop then it makes it even more sinister that we havent been shown the details of said agreement.

HQs line is that we are to co-operate in the planning of delivery method revisions but not the implementation.
So yes it has already been agreed.
I suppose this part of the agreement covers it.
The majority of delivery routes will be designed to start and finish at the workplace; however there will be some duties where it is more beneficial for both parties to agree alternative arrangements

Re: When will Cars be officially banned?
Cars will be removed once your delivery methods revision is introduced. The Guidelines for CDVs have been almost finalised with the CWU.
Anyone who has the Royal Mail bond will have that withdrawn and you will sign against the equipment which is assigned and agreed to your walk ie either a HCT , a powered HCT or a light weight trolled and the CDV. In a limited number of places bikes will still be used but on a far less a number then now.
Private cars will then be banned and the praticse of people loading the boots of their cars will cease and not before time.
For to many years to many have chased time out of the job coming in early , working their meal reliefs and driving their cars and have undermined other members who dont and i have represented many a rest day cover or reserve who cant complete a delivery because the regular bloke has come in beofre their time and drove his car on delivery.
Yes some support vechiles will be lost but the use of vans and taken weight off the shoulder in the vast majority of cases is a price worth paying as to many lifes have been wrecked by back injuries caused by carrying bags on the shoulder and to many lifes have been tragedy lost by postman and women who have knocked over members of the public whilst in their private cars out on delivery and are not insured.
People need to understand that Royal Mail want you to work all the hours your paid for and if you still rush around trying to gain time then they will continue to make you absorb and keep coming back to cut jobs. For the first time every you are going to have transaparent standards both indoor and outdoor which are based on acas guidelines and are widely used in UK and European industry and will be achievable. In the future you dom can not accuse you of working slowly if your achieving agreed standards and cannot bully you.
Its time to change the mentality on deliveries , time has killed the job , its time to make sure that we have better attendances with more time away from work which will stop people rushing around like headless chickens. Of course the changes to the workplan will help to change some of this.

If and when they ban cars in our office ,they would have to issue feckin stableisers for the feckin bikes for the feckin car users .

I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

I use my car. I come in 10 mins early everyday.I don't work my day off. I don't take my relief. Do you want to know why? Are you interested?
I have family issues (medical) which I'd rather not have. I do the above to get finished on my time, not overtime, because the last thing I want is to be waiting every hour for a bus to pass to take me home, when a car will get me home much quicker.
I have nothing to hide. I use my car, I do my delivery. I get on well with my fellow staff, most of whom don't use their cars. Sometimes you have to rise above the pettiness you are displaying and realise people, perhaps not like youreslf, have pressing issues outside of work - YET STILL HAVE TO WORK - and a f*king car on delivery is least of my (and I guess) others concerns.

Funny how when we were a trial DO for a "clocking in and out system" the CWU "advised" us not to take part. It was ideal opportunity for us to show how much extra we did for no pay........another chance lost

If you come in early, don't take your breaks and use your car on delivery just to finish on time then you need to sort that out! Why not take your break and cull it?Wild Rover wrote:dingo wrote:Cars will be removed once your delivery methods revision is introduced.

I dont no your circumstances, i dont no why you chose to work for RM, but what i do know is ,if you worked in a factory you would have to work too your time , if you worked in a shop , you would have to work to your time, I f your DOM got everyone in a meeting in the morning, and said " as from tommorrow everyone will start 10 minutes earlier , for no pay " what the feck would the reaction be? think about the job you are killing off....and not yourself

Re: When will Cars be officially banned?
I don't really have to explain or justify myself on a forum, least of all to a person(s) I do not know. I have mentioned enough above. Tough if you can't understand that. Btw, "ashadd" I have worked for RM for over 10 years - I'm not some newbie.
Suffice to say, like the thousands on here who will "apparently" vote no, I shall certainly vote no.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Why "almost"?dingo wrote:Cars will be removed once your delivery methods revision is introduced. The Guidelines for CDVs have been almost finalised with the CWU
Surely if you get a yes in the ballot then the delivery methods have been agreed with or without guidelines, so why are we voting on something without knowing what it entails?.
Within the "almost" finalised guidelines is home parking agreed?.

Re: When will Cars be officially banned?
If the DOM does turn a blind eye,GOOD! Because if he is not clearing his office he cannot use the "top 10%" rule...Why? Because people use cars in his office!!. Whereas the next office might clear and not use private cars!! If he is clearing his office on this basis then he cannot be compared with any other office.
This is the reason your rep would draw up a bond,it is in your DOM's interest to sign it off ASAP. The top 10% is not on any individual it is a national area by area,(perhaps).
People coming in early etc, those offices are to be excluded from this measurment. Reason? It will not be accurate. People not taking meal reliefs. Not accurate.
Anyone signing for a duty would sign a bond stating that THEY WILL be using the duty method of acceleration and all private car bonds are to ripped up.
The new corporate manslaughter act requires EVERYONE to have their licence/Insurance/MOT checked. Ask your DOM what date he is prepared to do so,(every six months by the way). Or would he rather not ?
Probably not!!!
