k979aaa wrote:How will it be honored with £168 billion deficit or 11.7 of GDP!. Greece is in the same situation but it bailed out the workers not the bankers after bailing out the bankers do you think we have enough for all the workers or just even us?.
Because they plan to change the pesion scheme into a 'pay as you go public sector pension scheme'!
That means the current £20billion assets held by RMPP (our pension) would transfer to the goverment. Yes they would then have to pay our pensions out of genral taxation in the future. but over a long period of time.

In effect they owe us £10billion, They agree to pay us what they owe, us as and when we need it, and in the meantime we lend them a further £20billion!
they will do it because IT'S GOOD FOR THEM!!
I am sure they would jump at the chance but that is no guarantee of receiving your pension at the end of the day here is the state of the nation as it stands http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8589156.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this is not a good omen for all in our nation!.
is your point that a under a goverment gaurentee we will not receive our pension, because the country is about to be declared bankrupt. that might be news to everyone with a public sector pension, including MP's.

We are not quite the wiemar republic yet.

If you are afraid of that it's a bit odd that your unhappy that 'bankers have been bailed' out. For the record the quickest route to mass unemployment (50% and more) and a depression is a collapsed fianancial system. Thats why the goverment bailed out the banks, it wasn't for the benifit of the bankers.
It is not the case that i am unhappy for any of the reasons which you state but the fact we will all be the first to contribute and the last if not the least to receive for the business through our efforts have provided over 3 billion pounds whilst our pension has fell into its current state it is not my wish that the nation is on its knees nor my fault!.

Don't disagree that its unfair k979aaa was only trying to reassure you that you will in my view receive the pension your entiteld to for the benifits you have built up.
How our pension came to be in such a terrable state, well there are plenty of people to blame for that, actuaries, RM management, sucessive goverments, the trustees, The Pension Regulator etc.

And i thank you for upholding it as an important issue and providing such insight for all on this board but the prove of the pudding is in the eating i and many more may not taste the fruits of their hard earned labour yet!.
