Big fat pay cut but try to hide it. 24,000 job losses and they talk about job security increasing. Members unable to cope with the present workload and and some bright spark negotiates an increase . To cap it all, if you don't like it tough s**t.
There are alternatives; 35hr week ;£80 per week pay rise ;3.5hr walks ;PT's contracts made up to the hours they actually work.

Whats that you say "get real there is no money, RM can't afford it" Baloney ,stop delivering DSA for a loss , raise the postage price to European levels. They could more than double their revenue overnight.
The fat cats need the USO but they want postal workers to pay for it, and you are doing with more work for less money and a fast disappearing pension, and all with the active and vigorous support of CWU HQ

I'm about to lose my morning allowance £12.37, D2D £27 and weekday SA £66.36 for the mamoth £20 uplift - against a backdrop of domestic price hikes over the last two years. I estimate that I will be worse off to the tune of £86 and the proposed minimal incremental rises over the next 3 years will underline our race to the bottom. Customers who have seen my payslip are left in disbelief when I explain that its for a SIX day week - "I always thought that a postman was a well paid job?" Yea - and we only need 1 half empty bag for our walks, drink copious amounts of tea and are home in time for Kilroy.

We've been on our knees ever since I joined 10 years ago. We are now a demoralised, bullied and sub serviant workforce that has grown to be thankful for any crumbs that fall from the Lairds table. Dont forget that this business actually makes a profit. Can you imagine how savage it will be if we'd made a loss? Our Union leadership has failed us yet again and we must use this upcoming vote to demonstrate how badly they let us down . Can we afford not to fight?

Why? A 35hr week costs them £0 if their modernisation projections are correct :hmmmm Raising the price of postage to the European average will double revenue ;£80 pay rise per week would still leave a massive increase in profits. :Very Happy

do the numbers the pension pot swallows up huge amounts of monies, the DSA cannot be changed because of POSTCON and the market has been opened up. Rivals are doing well! The Amount of money available has to pay off the 1.2Bn loan, the ongoing VR programme, the decrease in monies recieved for mailed work. I work for 8 hours the workload that comes in is dependent upon postings I sort to the required rate. SAs can be stopped with a months noitce. It is not a given! Loss of shift allowance well lost that 3 years ago. To get £20 in basic when RM were going to give nothing and you want NEC to go back and ask for more! Lets not forget this management team wanted deliveries as a part time workforce now you have a option. I wonder how many full time jobs will be sacrificed to get more Saturdays off!

nobody's doubting your figures but what i personally have a beef with is the fact that when i started i finished at 11 on a saturday now they want me to work till 3 and this was agreed by union people who wont work till this time or management who dont work saturdays.
our quality weekend time is being badly eroded by this agreement.

You gotta laugh at some of these pro agreement posts,
"management wanted to hang you by fish hooks through your scrotum, spit roast you,and stick a cactus up your arse. Through the power of the mighty union we have secured a provisional but overarching commitment to Tulips" :Sick

I think one of the big advantages we have over Europe is having a lower nationwide postage cost ( and one of the sticks we can wave in front of pro-privatisation people is the loss of that cheaper postage, once profit is the naked ambition )....a higher priority should be getting a correct price for DSA, that alone should be worth a good £80 a 35hr/week.

And to echo your point about pro-agreement posts, Roy Mayall has said exactly the same thing as you.....but none of these pro-agreement posts say anything like "Reduce my earnings to below minimum wage, outlaw all trade unions, ban industrial action, eradicate sick pay and holidays, make me work 16hrs a day, 6 days a week, terminate my employment, with no notice or reason whenever you want and don't even tell me about a pension, let alone contribute to it!"

If it wasn't for Unions ( and their members ) fighting for better T&Cs that is the world we'd live, work and die in - sometimes, fighting includes throwing out bad agreements, and starting negotiations again. We've waited months for an agreement, it don't mean we must take the first one that comes along.
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?
