Re: Agreement
So lets get this straight the the £35 i get paid for doing D2D is knocked on the head and instead my union tell me the the generous RM are going to give me £20.60 instead whoopee thanks Billy, and that also it will be unlimited D2D great thanks again Billy, but hang on i hear i shall also lose my ESA after all it was only agreed or so we thought (grandfather rights i think is the term ) with the last agreement that it would never be touched ,what a fool for thinking that would be the case . So lets just add up those 2 and see how much better off i am ,"hold on this can't be right Billy i am £16 out of pocket" , "don't worry Billy said we managed to cut your working week down by 1 hour".
Well i was estatic i could not hold my excitment at the thought of working 1 hour less a week ."prehaps we could take that hour off a saturday Billy you know give me a bit more time with the family" "arrrrrrr saturdays said Billy well there is a slight problem there you may have to stay out a tad bit longer" "how much longer Billy" "well how does 3 to maybe 4 pm grab you ? but don't forget RM are giving you a 6.9% pay rise" "yes Billy over bloody 3 years by which time i might be where i am now so in effect we have had no pay rise for 5 years" . "But what about your lump sum Billy shouted" "what from the money we are owed anyway from the CSC thanks for nothing Billy and don't forget to pay your bar tab at the hotel you stayed at while jollying it up with RM Management".

Re: Agreement
Don't like the look of it. I know it will go through anyway. The £400 "carrot" is too tempting for most people. But what about us on 25hr contracts? What "carrot" do we get?
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: Agreement
£400 isn't a carrot... it's a spit in the face. I would just laugh at £400 and I'm on a 25 hr contract.
I can't see who would vote to accept this 'agreement', other than those who are leaving soon anyway.

Re: Agreement
Is the £20.60 D2D payment is pro-rata ?
If so part timers like myself will end up with less than £16 for doing god knows how many D2Ds,
And the union reckon this is a good deal !!!!!

The £400 carrot is not a carrot FFS - it is the dividend from the colleague share THAT YOU WOULD GET DEAL OR NO F*CKING DEAL - they have just brought it forward. Re: Agreement
Lets just get one thing straight regarding the Union. They have been telling us for years to take our breaks. they Told people to stop using their own cars. To stop coming in Early to throw their rounds in. To stop running around and taking short cuts....etc. Have people listened? NO! Id say looking at all the comments in the forums that the majority of offices have workers who refuse to do the job properly and only look for their own interests or their "early dart".
The result of all this has been that the Union has been fighting a battle it cannot win. In every office it seems that some people are going home early by taking short cuts listed above, some are out all day and others stand around and let others do all the work. They have no argument about working to our time.(inc saturdays). The problem they have had is that the majority of posties, whether you like to hear this or not, look after their own selves and have allowed the royal mail to see that they are going home EARLY! not always because they have easier duties, but because they Run around, drive their own cars, come in earlier (without pay) and not take their break. Naturally the Royal Mail have concluded that these duties need extra work or they can reduce the amount of dutie sin their office.
The Union for the past year has known that we cannot defeat Royal Mail or Government plans for the company to be sold to TNT. That s going to Happen!. The union HAS HOWEVER GOT THE BEST POSSIBLE DEAL IT COULD EVER HOPE FOR despite all this that has gone on. Ive not always agreed with the union but have always done the job properly since we lost our 2nd deliveries many years ago.I saw the warning signs back then and have been telling people to "WORK TO RULE" for years.
WELL DONE CWU!! At least we are going to get something out of these changes. Changes brought on by the many runarounds and slackers who still dont want to work their 39hrs in the correct manner!
Its a Great Deal Considering what our Union has to deal with nationwide.

I cannot disagree with much of what is said here.
The problem I have is that the agreement is too vague about certain very important aspects. There are no limits to delivery spans, not even a benchmark. Maybe the first or second revision will involve 4 or 5 hour duties. What about the 3rd or 4th revision. Will there be 6 or 7 hour spans. According to this agreement that will be fine because it would be an enabler for full time duties.
D2D built into workload. If we have an allocated time for prepping them, this may well be fine for 2 or 3, what about when it reaches 7 or 8. Will there be extra time made out of thin air to prep them?
Toilet breaks?
Start times?
I don't want to go on any more although there are plenty more.......

Yes your spot on and I agree.
However we need to have a manageable daily workload which is not detrimental to our physical and mental health. If we allow an unlimited door 2 door service you will soon have managers insisting they are time sensitive and ordering you to do 2 items or more a day. When you complain that you will not have time within your duty you will be pressurised into preparing the items within your own time.
So we need to look ahead at the 4.5 hrs deliveries and at the known problems we face with over zealous bonus hungry management.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
