i do agree that it will fill a gap in prep time when the sequencing machines come in
Well done to the CWU HQ for sending it as an agreed document then.

And your dismissing an RM document because it does not fit in with your perception that D2Ds should be prepared outside working hours, but backs up that they should be prepared in work time. I am amazed, so much I fell of my chair. Perhaps you have been reading the CMAs version :Very Happy :Very Happy

My average is £30 per week so 50 week minus 4 weeks hol minus 7 rota weeks off =39.

£30 x 39 = £1170 as of now

New system .

£20.60 x 52 =£1071.60

I shall lose £ 100 per year on d2d

early shift allowance will be £500+

So really its not the d2d payment thats sucha prob it is the removal of esa for me .

Rogue, you've got two things wrong in one thread,a record, teebs has already pointed out the D2D issue, and also your point about the early shift being pulled if RM see fit is also wrong as keeping it was part of the P&M deal.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

so do the walk sequencing machines make no difference? somehow i've been led to believe there'd be less work on the ips. but i suppose thinking about it there's still the same amount of stuff that won't go thru the machines, or whatever. you just save a little bit of time throwing in. :d'oh!

There is a saving but it's not what Royal Mail will have you believe.
The saving is entirely related to letters IPS.Flats and packets obviously are unaffected.
The saving on prep is again limited to letters and is most noticable on a duty you don't know.
Then i have to say it is a great help.
Hopefully the days of reserves staring blankly at a frame with 20 codes in front of them are behind us. :Applause

i know it's never going to be what they would have you believe. in my experience, they are blatant liars, that's why i could never go into management. lying's not really my thing.

however, i'm pretty certain we are powerless to stop these changes, and at the end of the day, i like the job, as i always have, even tho it's not as easy as it used to be, so forgive me for trying to look for any positives, and ways to make it work to our own advantage.

TBT is correct, we are currently allowed prep time for up to 20% of D2Ds.

I have 900 drops for D2D purposes which works out at £45 per week with 3 sets.

I also receive the early shift allowance of £12.

So I will lose £37 per week.

Take into account the 2% rise and I am still out of pocket by £30 per week.

How can anybody justify this.

I have no interest in stopping change and in some cases such as stopping the use of private cars and people accepting the need to work their hours,it cannot come quickly enough for me.
However there must be protection for staff against unfair workloads and bullying management and this agreement in my opinion provides none of these.
That and the fact that this "pay deal" amounts to a pay cut for many delivery staff means that i can't really feel very positive about it.
This agreement gives Royal Mail all the tools they will need to increase workload and delivery spans to an intolerable level.
Despite reading it multiple times i cannot see anything solid the union at local or national level can use to fight this.

The new starters who are on a one hour contract will get 50p in there allowance while at the moment they receive the full amount for the D2D that they do for example if they cover a round of 600 calls with 3 D2D they would get £30.06 if this deal is agreed they will receive 50p. Not bad, well done negotiators, looking after the lowest paid. before anybody comes on and says that these 1hour contracts are not in the union I know from personal experience at least two in my office that are members.
I will be voting NO
No to a Wage cut
No to Later Saturdays
No to Pro rata D2D payment
No to no delivery span
No to lump sums being paid from my own money

Its even worse in effect they have removed payment for D2Ds in their entirety, then got them absorbed into the normal workload.

Then they were kind enough  to give us a £20.60 supplement if you work in deliveries (pro rata) with the 2007 pay protection included

This is how the CWU see it we have got a pay rise of £8 per week and D2Ds into workload - But in reality we were doing D2Ds in work load anyway and the deal means a £20 pay drop. but 1 Hour off the working week.
Maybe they will be unkind and try to take the supplement away in the future after all its not pensionable and part of our hourly rate.

the only thing i can think is that since the last revision they have totally relied on people coming in early, rushing around to get home, and using their own cars on delivery. if people can get these things out of their heads, surely there's nothing they can do about it? surely to some extent it's in our own hands?

I think the document does address these issues albeit in a very woolly fashion. The new relationship etc. Transparent standards. Achievable workloads.
The proof of the pudding will as always be in the eating.
Managers and workers will always have different objectives:
Fair and achievable workload (within budget)
WITHIN BUDGET - a fair and achievable workload.
Same words - different emphasis, but obviously some common ground.
Obviously a cull of line managers would aid the CWU - leaving in an average-sized office one manager to deal with one workforce.
An exodus of union members will play into the hands of the management.
The real challenge for the CWU will be to appeal to the part-timers and youngsters. Without these any influence the CWU might have in the workplace will be long gone and all the "power" will be in the hands of the managers.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The real challenge for the CWU should be to represent it's members not it's paid officials as this agreement seems to.
There are more words dedicated to the CWU in the work place than to protecting members working conditions and pay.

It is a sell out.
No matter how National and Branch officials try to sell it they sold normal members down the river to protect their own positions within the business.
