Very sore point with me, if you don't go out on strike but are perfectly happy to accept any benefits that are won by your colleagues losing money, to me that is wrong.
Been in the same situation years ago, bloke who consistantly worked strikes and took great pleasure in the fact that he got paid for sitting in the office kicking his heels and drinking coffee while the rest of us lost money. Was pulled for dumping and asked me a Union Rep to represent him as I had a good rapport with the managers and had managed to get a lot of people off, I refused and he said I must repesent him as he was a member of the Union so I resigned and 2 weeks later he was sacked.
I wouldn't support him as he didn't support us the Union!

There is a consence clause which states that you dont have to represent a strike breaker.... myself and the are rep did it... the branch sec. had to do it... he done the absolute minimum at his hearing (he got sacked, made my day )
Even though i have finished from the job a few months back (ill health retirement ) i still remain very bitter to those strikebreakers i see out and about... its their smug faces...

and the fact that when they get into trouble or things don't go their way - they come bounding back as if nothing had happened. vermineaster bunny wrote:There is a consence clause which states that you dont have to represent a strike breaker.... myself and the are rep did it... the branch sec. had to do it... he done the absolute minimum at his hearing (he got sacked, made my day )

Like you Easter Bunny I was a local rep and I'm out of it now ( VR ) and glad to be gone. But I still support the union and intend to run the retired members section - with NO STRIKEBREAKERS

Under rule 14 in the CWU manifesto, you can kick out a member that's breaking the union code of practice....i.e. slagging off the union or crossing the picket line.

'fraid not. under maggie thatcher's law it is illegal to take action against these people. You can't censure them or throw them out.islfor wrote:Under rule 14 in the CWU manifesto, you can kick out a member that's breaking the union code of practice....i.e. slagging off the union or crossing the picket line.

Correct mate! When I was a rep, I'd never put myself out for these freeloaders.Fluke wrote:There's representation and then "There's REPRESENTATION!"BlueEspresso wrote:I wasn't in union in 2007 and worked the strikes, last year was and did strike.
