How about Monday to Friday delivery with just a priority service on Saturdays. People last in the door will lose jobs but with turn over in staff being fairly high they wouldnt be out of jobs for that long. Some floaters would become holiday reserves for that rotation.
Yes we would be delivering 6 days mail into 5 so try and punt out as much mailsort at the start of the week so its busier then and the end of the week wouldnt see much difference.
Just my idea.

remove one of those service days, then you would have RM working out how to justify 6 opgs for 5 duties over 5 days, - could you justify that? If not, how do you want to decide who goes & how do you tell them?
A move to a Mon-Fri service would at a stroke lose 1in 6 jobs.Or 16% of the workforce.
It's not a good idea.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I have to say i totaly agree with this statement  At our office we HAVE to work 6 days a week as Sats are our SA days and compulsory o.t (wtf)! I know alot of people at my office who would gladly give up working Saturday and as Eian687 says let the ones who want to work Sats as SA work then thats there choice!
Just say NO ....to the new agreement.

We have SA in our office and you have to sign a contract which has to be resigned every year, also if you either side wants to opt out they have to give 1 months notice.Just like when RM reduced the SA hours, 1 months notice was given and new contracts signed

We never have to sign anything! Plus there is no way of not working Saturdays we have to work 6 days a week not 5 over 6 so if they got rid of saturday sa it would be moved to a different day and sat would be a regular working day. I have asked on numerous occasions about how to not have to work sat and not do any sa but its not an option at our office.
Just say NO ....to the new agreement.
