I was a steward while working for Britain's largest grocers where the union was in partnership with the company, believe me it was a nightmare trying to get anything constructive done for your members short of resorting to tribunal. Knock your union if you think something's wrong by all means, let your reps know, but don't even consider leaving the only organisation that's there to serve your interests in the workplace.

We must all stick together on this, and that this is staying in the union, without it, we haven't got a chance in hell of achieving anything, don't play into Adam Crozier hands :cfo :cfo :cfo :cfo :cfo :cfo

Re: Don't unsubscribe
An organisation that let us sign the 2007 agreement, the agreement that has seen me (to a certain extent) bullied and harassed into working over my time frequently or b&h when I do try and book overtime, threatened with prep test and god knows what else if I dare to question the management. Speaking to the union rep is pointless as no backup so I do as I've quite often done and fight the bastards myself! Sick to death of it though, shouldn't be like this - quite clearly someone or something is not representing my interests..but don't even consider leaving the only organisation that's there to serve your interests in the workplace.
So, as I've said elsewhere, this better be good or I'm gone - I've been on strike loads of times, worked to rule, done the job properly etc etc. I've contemplated quitting in the past, but thought better of it after time has elapsed, this time is different though.
And.. I'd rather not say it but unions just don't have the power they once had, companies will quite happily let their workforce go on strike as has been proven time and time again in many different industries. The public of this country see strikes as an inconvenience to their precious little lives and can't see the point to causing disruption. This is the sad pathetic reality of Britain, created by a trashy Tory government that allowed wealth and greed to come before the interests of the workers - to the point that very few people have got the guts to stand up and be counted anymore. Talk about going backwards in time, it makes me f***ing sick to be classed as British sometimes, in fact I find it even more insulting that the French have got the guts to strike properly where we just lie down and take it.

Still sick of this decision even 4 or 5 hours after the announcement. Seething in fact! Been thinking of what to do Union wise and is it possible to replace the heads of our Union rather than play into Royal Mails hands and all walk away from it. If it is a crap deal then vote to get rid of Hayes etc rather than leaving us unionless. Is this possible?

Lucky you, some of us have been fighting since march and lost alot more. Nothing has been achieved so far and i and many others are disappointed...but i do feel the union need to try harder to settle an agreement...two months is too long to wait before talks are back on the table. I just wish this could of been thought through, and settled out by the end of this month.Payneythepostie wrote:Sold down the river! Lost a few days pay for nothing in return well done cwu
Seven months of strikes, and about 100 meetings between the CWU & RM and nothing!
When they do both decide to meet in january, i just hope its not going to be another seven months of strikes and all to many meetings because NOTHING will happen. Already members are losing more than just pay they are losing patience with the union.
