Well you see there is a slight amendment to the 2007 Pay and Modernisation Agreement should have read 2007 Pay and Modernisation Agreement when it suits Royal Mails purpose.

Nope in fact the opposite IIRC there was meant to be a working group dealing with Pay and reward in Phase 4 - in other words discussion about pay increases/freezes not imposition.

No, their task was to come up with 'the best way to implement monthly pay'. Not whether to move to monthly pay, but how to do it, IIRC. And, presumably, to consolidate variable D2D payments into guaranteed weekly pay, as a precursor to RM making D2D stuff part of normal duties. There was nothing in there about pay increases

Thanks for the reply - I had to go back to the agreement and check - and it looks as though we were both right

Joint Working Group 2 – New Reward Framework will examine pay simplification possibilities (within the existing pay bill), a new pay and reward package, different pay models, reviewing on what the local element of the ColleagueShare dividend for years 2 and 3 will be based and MTSF. The Group will also consider how to implement monthly pay. It will also review annualised hours or banked hours, flexible working, and possible changes to attendance patterns that could both benefit the business and employees and is in line with the company’s family-friendly policy. The group will decide whether it needs to operate sub groups for any element of this.

I think it should be clear to everybody by now, that the 2007 pay and modernisation agreement was most certainly, the worst agreement in industrial history, what did we get out from it, a paltry few hundred quid. What did management get out of it, the ability to inflict on all of us the two worst years of our working lives, with the added bonus of knowing that this was to continue on and on and on and on.......
The best thing we could all do, would be to recognise that agreement for the dog's dinner it always has been, and was only ever going to be, and tear it up.
If Mandelson is that keen about the 2007 agreement, it's never going to be a winner for us, the workers, never.

indeed, the pendulum has sung too far to the Management who is like a child with no boundaries are pushing and pushing to get more regardless of the consequences.

The consequences are clear to all of us, the problem we now have is to roll back all the EAs and unilateral Management decisions, which is a clear departure form the agreement, the agreement has lost its way, get back to square one and close the Pandora box firmly and throw the key away, any Management with a licence to to do what they want, will go so far that they don't know how to stop themselves.
