the get out clause on these insurance policies is .....'''''''it's not your business''''''' it's royal fails business these insurance policies would be null & void if you were ever to be pulled by plod and he wanted a few extra 'stats'

i think it was because he hadn't informed his own insurance and was driving about with social, domestic and pleasure use only. to and from your place of work, ie the factory gate so to speak. not carrying mail. your own insurance must be informed.opgpat wrote:Hey of that's true why was a postie recently stopped by Police, had his car confiscated and was fined for non-insurance relating to buisness use? Everyone just needs to stop using thier cars. Why should we pay the excess for insurance when they are just shafting us by not payin overtime.

Re: driving your own car on delivery
Had a look at the royal mail documentation on insurance for using you car on delivery.
There's one paragraph that stands out , it goes somthing like this.
Royal mail can cancel the agreement at any time and don't have to give a reason.
So the bottom line is. If you face doesn't fit and anything was to happen then what's to say they don't use that clause to get rid off you?

Re: driving your own car on delivery
In our office our DOM is supposedly only taking on people with driving licences, surely this must be discrimination?
And another thing as mentioned before, the more people that take their cars the less hours they need in the office, As the drivers who drop the bags off will need less time to do the walks he covers, So come on guys do the job right

Taking on people with a driving license is not discrimination , it is just classed as a required qualification.
Most will use it as a term to allow flexibility but I have been waiting for over 10 months to get my driving assessment and it still has not happened so obviously they don't need me to be as flexible.

Re: driving your own car on delivery
as iv'e said read your policy it will state ''your bussines'' not ''''''royal fails''''''' bussines you will find out to you detriment when if by being unlucky enough to be involved in an accident ...have personaly seen it in action !! it's hard to comprehend 'law' i do understand but surely even the most dense of you will understand that i'm sure. Besides if your unable to do your job without the use of your car then get the issues around that sorted then we will keep someone in a job .............simple isn't it

Re: driving your own car on delivery
We've been told if we don't use wor cars the gaffa's must either give us bus fares to get a pass or get us dropped off by the drivers (which i can't see ever happening). My argument then is, it is going to take far too long to get the bus to lapsing then bus from lapsing to delivery so therefor not extending everyday n if they don't like it then that's just tough luck

Re: driving your own car on delivery
no offence intended. what if your car was off the road. it isn't your problem travelling, this is included in your working day and it is not up to you to provide transport. if you cut off because you spend too much time travelling, i'm sure your boss would make sure you got to your walk quicker. if not you could end up delivering a lot less mail.carpathia_kuja wrote:We've been told if we don't use wor cars the gaffa's must either give us bus fares to get a pass or get us dropped off by the drivers (which i can't see ever happening). Bang on
You simply tell your dom that you will not have enough time to complete your delivery with the suggested arrangement. Then its up to him to arrange better transport or to cover your cut off. Either way its not you job to work out the logistics. Simples.
