"Maybe the strike should also be about wages. My 18 year old daughter in her gap year is working in the local surgery as a receptionist. She is paid (after tax) £218 for a 37 hour week. Last week for 40 hours I was paid £252. Although I like being a postie the pay is crap."
The public are very supportive at the moment but talk of more money will distract them from all the the other issues
the pension deficit ,privatization, bullying & harassment, increased delivery drops, proposed increases in d2d's per week and ending of d2d payments.

Ricky Bruch wrote:The overall pay we get as full timers is good for the work we do (IMHO) as semi skilled workers (I can see myself getting shot down for that statement) its all the other crapola we have to contend with that makes the pay at the end of the week seem pittance, constant nagging from managers, job changes every few months, and so on, just the general day to day unwarranted stresses the company put on us makes you wonder if it is all worth it at the end of the day, especially when the pension is shot, they want to increase retirement age & generally do not show any form of respect towards us as workers or the hard graft we do on a daily basis but instead speak & treat us like imbeciles who spend most of our time being work shy & robbing them blind.
Pity we don`t have another dispatches undercover story showing what we have to put up with in 2009 compared to what senior management & directors actually do, then let the public decide who really earns their money each week.
Yes very good points
I think you can look much lower that senior managers to see who is actually doing the work. Our DOM and line managers are out the door ASAP especially on a Saturday whereupon they are all on their way by 9.30 am leaving the office without a manager for the rest of the shift.
I cannot think of another industry where managers load up the staff with work then spend a couple of hours drinking coffee before looking to go home 3 hours early.
Once RM have finished destroying our working conditions it will be the managers who are next and I can see many jobs going, being converted to part time or just acting status.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Just checked my overtime rates. My SSPR is the same as normal duty rate. Am I being done here. Can someone confirm whether their SSPR rate on overtime is the same as duty rate (ie 8.69p) or are they being paid more?
