Im my D.O we have fixed days off, why? Because the membership voted for it over rotating day off by a very large margian , in fact fixed day off wiped the floor and left its rival out for the count.
Friday off bods at my D.O will this week not loose any pay, if we strike on friday next week then they will not loose any money for a 2nd time running.
By having a Saturday strike for delivery, then other people will be fortunate enough not loose wages.
Sticking to the same day off would be very unpopular amongst CWU mbrs at my place.
HQ should go for 2 days on in terms of the day of the week we strike, this would allow for rotating days and fixed days off.
However in terms of impact on RM is that any use?

He's saying it's good for them as no staff will have both strike days off, hence they would not be losing any pay whilst others lose 2 days.wire69 wrote:you r self self selfsirtophat wrote:we all have the same day of each at my D.O so it good for us, but yes some people do have more luck than others

Re: strike days should remain the same
Weve had similar problems at my office regarding strike days & coincidences etc, for the first 2 local strikes we had the same group of 4 niter shift pattern workers had their day off on the strike nites of our local disputes - what made it much worse was the fact 2 of those were both the Nite Rep & Deputy Rep on Dist. I'm all for the conspiracy normally, but on this occasion i believe it was just pure coincidence & didnt bother adding any fuel to the debate.
Every office is different, you cant say theyve called the strike on that date because its Joe Bloggs day off ?? For christ sakes, CWU HQ dont know who the hell Joe Bloggs is - these strikes can not be worked to do anybody a favour, there will be people that lose more than others all over the place. Just stick together, support the strike & picket, maybe the best thing to debate on here for now is the 'Strike Strategy', i dont agree with the sequence of the strikes, it should be deliveries out first - we want to make an impact, we want to build a backlog - we want to 'WIN THIS DISPUTE' !!!

RM & CWU Reps Opinion is 'NOT' National Agreement
