Are Local Managers totaly stupid or Else?

If you have been a manager for say donkeys years,then there may be a slight and i mean slight bit of feelings of sorryness (is that a word?) for you.
If you are a new manager and you have taken the job over say the last 5 years maybe even 10 possibly,then i have no sympathy for you at all,you know the score,so you have to live with it and i have no time for you what so ever.

It's a post that i don't like posting,but tbf going by RMC,and what i've seen in my area,it's well warranted.What a s**t hole we work in huh.

Most managers I come across don’t appear stupid in themselves but are not able or allowed to make a simple decision about running the office without running to the phone and checking first.
There being treated like puppets in a big game.
The ones in our office just want to get the deliveries out the door and go home a couple hours before I finish. Which is why they freak when we cut off and they have to work there time.

from my experience you have hit the nail on the head there. i think we have had 5 doms in the last 3 years and none of them have had any normal managerial powers.my current one and the dom before him have both stated that the targets they are given are unreachable but higher up insist on it no matter what. it does seem that they do as they are told and nothing more regardless of the order. then once they have caused an unbelievable amount of trouble and the grievances against them start clocking up they are simply moved on and replaced.

shame really as only 1 of the 5 was an idiot, the others have been fair and friendly they just dont have any power and have to do what they are told.

I actually feel quite sorry for them, I have a feeling they are more abused from above than any day to day crap that you have to deal with in the workplace. My one always stunk of booze ( Hi tony if you're reading this) and actually reminded me of a Billy Graham convert who thought the world was perfect, either that or he might have been pyramid selling and this was the way forward, just not on this planet. The other one (Hi Rachel) was obviously descended from Nazi war criminals and she was only obeying orders.
They are not stooopid in the sense that they are are covering their own backs and if they do what they are told, they will get bonuses. Money talks. Can't imagine they have many friends though, except amongst themselves. I can't imagine they go into a pub and strike up a conversation with a stranger and tell them what they do for a living. I would rather tell them I was a parking warden or a car clamper than a RM manager.

Just added the last bit because the bloke is more bent and corrupt than anything known to mankind. We've got him but nobody voted for him. It's at times like this, you think of moving to South America for a bit of democracy.

Thats what worrys me we seem to have a really good DOM,he does'nt take any nonsense but he is totally fair.The last 2 weeks we have to work our time if finish bit early(fair enough)if we go over we all get extended!!!?He tells us not to come in early and take all our meal relief too!!!??My guess is were behind all you guys and he has'nt had new instructions yet bcos there is no bullying/harrasment as such.I voted yes bcos Royal Mail is declining bigtime and i don't want too see it get any worse!!

the managers i have came across in the past say 5 yrs and this is just in my office we have had quite a few , they have to have a degree in lying !

these men/women are no longer managers, have no authority or say in the day to day running of DO they are not worthy
of respect as they do not show it to others this is a weakness in their own character ,self respect ,trust and decency have been bought for a handful of silver so let the press go ahead we have pride and passion.

We at TQ had a very good manager he had the lot respect, attention he knew how to man manage people and ran the office in a superb fashion. His only ill was to speak his mind to the area squad and tell them that there ideas would not work. Subsequently he was stabbed (Not Really Stabbed) in the back by a guy he tried training up as a manager. Who reported him on some of his failings and he got his job, so there thats the type of people your dealing with, they would stamp on there own parents head to acheive there goal.
