We were told this too but let's see them try to enforce this 'working on after your hours' for no pay - it's illegal and if they discipline you for it that is also illegal.

memo - proceedure is as some have said, keep walking and complete walk. Then if you have time to spare after your final delivery point cycle or walk round doing a 'miss-sort run'. If you don't have time for that endose all miss-sorts m/s, take back to DO and inform a manager that you have m/s you didn't have time to deliver as you are now at/past your finish time. If he says you should do them anyway tell him your not working on after your hours for no pay. If he says it's your mistake you should fix it say, yes that's correct it's human error and everyone makes these mistakes, but I'm still not working on for no pay! End of conversation! :cool

most people forget about informing a manager part - they aren't atall interested/gone home already anyway so leave on frame for next day.

your not serious.
Follow that logic and spend 20min going back to the last street you were in.
Then you find another miss-sort 15mins after that and repeat the task?
Would you put your whole delivery behind and risk cutting off etc for 3 or 4 letters?
Our delivery manager would only recommend trips like that for a single letter if it was a special.

don't go back early with them. if it's too far away and i don't have the time [every day] i write m/s and the date on the letter/letters. no problem for me as i don't throw my walks off. one week the dim sorted and bagged up for me, biggest load of sh1te i have ever seen in my life [i wouldn't let him bag spuds] not just letters in the wrong place but a bundle in the wrong bag, fifty odd letters he got back one day but because he sorted them he said i shouldn't of put m/s on the letters. i explained i was covering my back but he wasn't having it, poor thing was very embarrassed  . anyway next day i brought back some parcels rather than carry them to my next drop and some more letters and was writing m/s on them, he saw me and said there's no need to be personal and he got the same reply as the day before, f*^k him. they find letters brought back with nothing on they will say that you couldn't be bothered to deliver them.
It's life Jim but not as we know it

Some good points but one thing is missing: the missort isn't always for the same duty. If it's for a different duty, or maybe a different town, you have no option but to pop it into a postbox, or take it back if you are going back anyway.

Wouldn't it be great to just tell your manager that you don't get paid enough to rectify someone else's mistakes...
Who is KyzaSoze? But to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew, that was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, he's gone.

If I weren't serious I wouldn't have said what I did,
Have known a few people in my time who have been sacked for dumping, whether it be 1 letter or a bundle it makes no difference to RM management, if I was responsible for throwing up a walk and there was missorts I would go back and deliver them as it was my mistake, even if it meant going over my time.
These days with pouch checks, sorting machines that will flag up if a letter has a code on it from another day, test letters or perhaps as one person found out as he drove home from work, he was pull over by the Law who noticed a few letters sticking out of his pouch called the IB who came and searched his home,
I advised the cautious approach as telling our colleague to do something that might cause him to get the sack in my view is irresponsible. But if you consider it okay and do it yourself you will only have yourself to blame if caught and sacked. :wave

I don't throw off my own walk, and was told only recently, (after an incident when I had endorsed a missort, dated it and pouched it off) - any missorts, I have to go back and deliver them - - okey dokey, but if it takes me over my time, I'll be wanting paid for it

marie, don't forget you don't have to work past your time, so contrary to what they say, you don't have to deliver miss-sorts if time is up.

Every one gets missorts but what if its meant to be redirected or keepsafed? If you're not familiar with the walk and have loads of redirections with a variety of names (some have 30+ in our office) you could make a mistake :d'oh! . Sometimes if I'm on a walk for a while I will write the redirection addresses and names on a piece of card. I find this works and helps me particularly in the office - if you have done your redirections and you get handed a letter you can do a quick scan of your card instead of a avalanche of 30+ plastic walletts!

Correct

YOUR UNION REP SHOULD HELP TO CLARIFY
I intend to share my experience but each individual should get local help with a rep
100% informed of the circumstances.

It all comes back to willful delay if you finished early yet had a pile of missorts i think you you wouldn't have much legs to stand on
yet if your already an hour over i think IPS is correct and you do have .

Another example of daft rules. We should be able to put missorts back in the post box without hassle as long we don't take the piss ie 20 missorts.

They want far too much from us and don't give us enough time or overtime to correct it.
