Eatmy i take offence to your comment as i am long serving postie and we have never had it easy any of us regardless of whether you are F/T or P/T.
I can appreciate your view ,i take it that you havnt been in the job to long, also remember this in your own mind you have a them and us mentality there is no them and us we are all as one. Why do you have this view ,this job is and always has been hard graft so how you think F/T or long service posties have had it easy baffles me can you elaborate...
EatMyShorts has said on occasions that he gets finished at 12.00 but yet he can still work 60hours :hmmmm he's just one of those agent provocateurs that comes onto this site usually around strike times.

MM

Lets be honest posties have had it easy for too long and now were being asked to work to our time we kick up s**t. When i first started with royal mail which was a 5 till 1 mon - fri 4 till 12 sat i was finished everyday before 10.30 no matter what walk i was on and i bet most of you guys are the same and i bet you never kicked up then[/quote]

no postie that i know in our office has any problem with being asked to work the hours we are paid for. the problem is that we're being asked to do 9.5 or 10 hours work in an 8 hour day and given all kinds of crap when it can't be done

Im part time, all i want is a full time contract.. at my office the full time people dont give any of us any hassle, 75% of them help us out when we are in need, just makes me feel thankful that im in a good office with some good people there. And by the way I am 19 years old, and i love the money because it pays for all my beer. Thank you Royal Mail for giving me an easy job from which im never tired after doing and my knees never hurt and my feet are never sore and im never in bed befor 11pm as the job is so easy i just dont need sleep.

Please don't denigrate members if they don't get the joke. Unfortunately sarcasm does not work well in text perhaps a :Very Happy or a :left: or a :chuckle and even a :nervous - would have given us a clue. I thought you were being serious as well  or least trying to upset us hence I did not reply straight off.

alot of the part timers at our place are making more money than the full time posties, due to the fact that them coming in 2 hours later doesnt work, so the management allow them to come in at the same time as the full timers and let them claim 2 hours o/t a day. along with offering them any ot going aswel.

why not offer them a full time contract ffs? is it so come the summer time when its "light" they can scrimp on hours and save 10 hours a week per person?

i just dont get this place. what a wind up

Its true there are alot of students working for Royal Mail but they also put in a shed load of o/t. Dont knock the p/timers, I was AG - would always wear the full uniform, would do the job properly and desperately wanted full-time. My lino gave me driver training to get my hours up but in the end i was offered full time 8-4 outisde of Royal Mail.

And You can live off a f/t wage at Royal Mail! There are alot worse paid jobs.

If after a period of 3 months they are still claiming the 2 hrs O/T there contracts should be made up . So if your on a 25 hr contract and claim 10 hrs docket your contract should be made up to 35 hrs but thats somethink for the union rep to sort out....
Is that true that your contract should be made up?? Ive been doing 40 hours a week for the last 5 months now, ive never heard this one before though??
