Just a baby walk, we got wlaks over 700 in our office
pfft im over 900,all stairs!
Try delivering the mail to the houses not the stairs :wave :wave :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

Anyway, back when I was a lad I would deliver to 5000 houses before I got up and then did 29 hours work down the mill before being flogged to death by my father.............and I'd have been thankful :nervous
Pftt thats nothing. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down sorting office, and pay Royal Mail for permission to come to work, and when we finally got back from our 500,000 houses walk, our Line Manager and his mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

think any volume changes should be put in context, even if B Hayes and co at HQ are "accepting" that traffic is down it is only margenal and it's down on it's historic highfrom 2005

That looks an awfull lot like a 25% increase between 1995 & 2005 some 5 billion items per year!

Our office queried the figures coming down from the MC and we were told that the MC figures are acturate and to stop weighing the mail because that's wrong.

Excellent. Remember those days well ,management constantly banging on about the massive growth in volume; hardly a month went by without the bastards trying to force extra hours into our office, and the times they tried to shorten our walks to accommodate this massive mail increase, well I lost count. We stood firm though

I will tell you all something for nothing . Maybe blatantly obvious to some or even all ..........

............ I was sent to the mail centre for 2 weeks at xmas . After a few days we were put on the bullrings ( yorkies in a ring for mail going to do's for those that dont know )

We were told to mark EVERYTHING we put out on a sheet and input it into computers at the end of the shift . This was fine for 2 days until we were told that we were doing it all wrong  . Well im afraid we were doing it the way we were told . We were then told another way and got on with it . 2 days later we were doing it all wrong . 3 managers came over and i asked them the right way to count the mail volumes being sent out . Remember this is the busiest time of the year we are talking about ! ! ! ! ! The 3 of them couldnt agree what was the correct way of counting the mail .

The point of this story is ......... over xmas the do's were told what they were receiving and MOST of the time it was either WAAAAAAAAY more or WAAAAAAAAAAY less than they actually received .

MORONS THE LOT OF EM ! ! ! :arrrghhh

everything is fiddled , ghost yorks , coffins , auto - levels , racks etc , Allsop's fables :Very Happy - If Senior Managers are pushing for privatization , the name of the game is talk down the industry so they can later claim an " improvement " with privatization .
