START TIMES?

Post by mdtomuk »

GOSH, THERE SEEMS TO BE A WIDE RANGE OF LEAVING FOR DELIVERY TIMES! GUESS YOU ALL DON'T START AT 0445 OR 0500! WE HAD A UNION VOTE FOR A 0615 START - IT WAS 40 TO 0 AGAINST! OUR MISSORT RUN IS CALLED INTRA MAIL, MEANING LOCAL TO LOCAL . PAH! OURS ARE 99% RUBBISH FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, EXCEPT MAYBE 1% BEING LOCAL!! :d'oh!

In our office, it's also a free-for-all, the rurals can go as soon as their ready after the last lorry and the rest have to wait for the intra mis-sort (or should that be mailsort mis-sort?). I aim to be out by 7.30, but it's usually nearer 8.00 just in time for the start of the traffic on the roads.

We got told today though that everyone will be changing from 5.00 starts to 6.15 starts - no one wants to - so I'll get hit by more traffic!

As soon as your ready to go you go in my office, we dont havea missort van any more but we do have a area aggrement on missorts. Some of us leave a bag on the IPS fram for missorts if out before people have finished prepping and that bag gets put in drop box and missorts are done when finished delivery on way back to office.

About 7 weeks ago the manager covering for my DSM said to myself, the ADR and the 2 local managers he dosent care what time we start work as long as all due mail is cleared!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

There was a good one in the Blackburn Evening Telegraph last weekend, it sounded like a fit up to impress other managers how "PC & right on " RM are judging by the comments posted. A arrogant little S****** of a managers son was given extra hours at another office as he was "being harassed" when his Dad was suspended after a IB investigation & someone tipped the Evening Post off. The headline was Royal Mail manager narrowly escapes Prison for £42, same arrogance!. They actually fixed the "Morale Boosting Draw" for the little **** to win the car.Try LEP RM 2006

If i have heard and read info correctly, soon we'll all be going out later as the despatch times will all be changing at the mail centre's.The bulk of the mail will be arriving later to the mail centre's due to the road time directive(56mph and all that malarky)thus making the 600's later leaving mail centre's for the delivery offices.

At the moment we are a 5am start(nights were ripped out last year),the first 600 is there, but only has about 6 yorks of mail on,2 or 3 of them are mech mail, the remainder is sorted in no time at all,the next 600 does not arrive until 6.15/6.30 and has the bulk of the mail on 12 yorks+.We are allowed out after the last missort van comes in(if you are ready of course) which is varies between 8.15/8.30 depending on traffic conditions.

Our new start times are reported to be either 6.00 or possibley 6.30,so my guess its gonna be well gone 9.00 before anyone gets out.
